  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Okay, I am a non-owner (for now) but am very close to pulling the trigger on the r spec. After reading the news on what is coming with the 2013...bigger nav screen, more intuitive interface, blue link, etc. I am curious if the extra cash for the 2013 is worth it (I can get a great deal on an r spec now). Any thoughts on waiting for the 2013? After reading these boards I definitely see some frustration with the current 2012 r spec nav and lack of bluetooth ipod audio integration. Based on what you know about the new updates for the 2013, what are your recommendations? Thanks and looking forward to being a new Genesis owner soon!!

There are deals to be made for the 2013 Rspec... last year before 2014 refresh.
talk to enough dealers and they will do the deal.

sounds like you have a little time, 2013 isnt out yet (im trying to find delivery date). put your feelers out at the dealers and tell them the deal you want. a dealer will take $500 (or more with hold back , dealer incentives, etc) to move a car then let another dealer take it from them.

Thanks so much....I am trying to find the release date for the 13's as well. If you find out any info let me know.

I like new tech and fresh improvements. I would do the newer model.

As an audio enthusiast, more than a car enthusiast, I can tell you that bluethooth ipod audi integration is just poor sound. The technology is too new and to mate that with the Lexicon sound system is a crime. Even using an iPod with low bit rate of downloaded songs can be easily distinguished from a low quality CD, that has over three times the bit range versus Apple Lossless downloads. You can even tell the difference with the Lexicon on poorly recorded CD's versus higher recording standard artist CD's (James Taylor, Michael McDonald, SLASH, etc). This is one feature I surely would not wait for. As far a the navigation screen, I have had several, and quite frankly, one much bigger gets to be a distraction from the road. I often hit my volume control in for a few seconds to make it go black. That's a personal decision, but I would not wait and pay 5K more for wireless iPod connection that gives you inferior music. I would be inclined to wait until the 2013 comes out to purchase your 2012 though. The price will come down further and you can compare yourself. Bring your Ipod, and buy some high end recorded CD's.
At this point, wires have not been surpassed in audio (expensive wires are snake oil, I just mean having a wired connection). I have about as much invested in audio systems as my Genesis, and been a hobby of mine since high school (mid fifties now). The Harmon Kardon sound system along with the quiet ride of the Genesis is the finest OEM sound system I have ever heard to date, but sending shaved ipod music wirelessly will ruin what you are buying. Harmon, who has purchased about every audio company they can over the years, owns Lexicon, as they own Mark Levison, the other highest end price points of their brands, which include JBL, Infinity, AKG and yes, even Clarion (who I think has been put to rest).

I'm waiting for the '14 to come out. Unless Hyundai found a way to bastardize the '14 Genesis, then I'm going for the '13 R-Spec. I also hope big H addressed the 8spd transmission issue on the current R-Spec.

Sign me up as another person waiting for the '14 to be on showroom floors to pull the trigger on a '13 White Satin Pearl R-Spec (unless a gently 'used' example comes about..I still have my reservations though, as the R-Spec probably means a performance minded previous owner who will prob 'exercise' the 5.0 during their ownership).

I've always owned black or darker slate/titanium metallic paint auto's... White w/ black interior has been really calling to me for the past few years. It's its own detailing challenge and when made to 'pop' w proper polish and LSP..it can be a stunner.

I just drove a Rspec... honestly i cant see how anybody would drive it like they stole it, so i serously doubt they would have "exercised" this option. Still I'll prob be picking up a 2013 white... hopefully they will get them soon !

Just wondering, you keeping the CR-V in your personal fleet after your pick up the Genny?

OP,

Although the site doesn't have as much 'pull' with dealers and is dismissed by a few manufacturers because their dealer outlets have whined in unison to them so much about it... www.TrueCar.com can be a nice, free tool, to utilize when trying to attain price research for your area and also have a base price to negotiate/press for. It made short work of the buying process and skipped the haggling when I bought my last car in fall of '09. Came in with laptop, pricing spreadsheets, financing acquired...looked over car closely, test drove it, and made the process almost exactly 2 hours long from the time I got on to the dealer lot.

Thanks everybody. Decided to go with a gently used black 2012 genesis r spec (9k miles) for an incredible price. I know the dealer and he vouched for the previous owner. Pick it up in a week....can't wait!!

Little OT here, but I thought Apple Lossless format matches the quality from the CD it was burned from?

I believe he is talking about the loss of quality with the Bluetooth connection versus a direct wired connection.
