Nav/Audio stopped working

This past weekend we took a 250 mile trip, going everything was great, on the way back the nav and audio stopped working and the nav screen was flashing the blue Hyundai logo on and off on my 10 4.6 with 27k miles.
This morning I was going to take her to the dealer, when I cranked her up, everything work normally. Can anyone give me some advice as to what happened and should I be concerned that it could happen again when she is out of warranty in the next 11k miles. Thanks

I would take a video of it the next time it happens so you have evidence when speaking to the dealer. Having said that, we've all had our NAV/DIS go south at some point or another; it's usually solved by a "reboot" (i.e., restart).

Do you have the Tech package? If so, there is a TSB 12-BE-012-1 that consists in updating the software on the DIS in order to solve some known issues. This software update takes 1 and 1/2 hours to complete as it updates both the Head Unit and Amplifier firmware to the latest available version.

This past weekend ... the nav and audio stopped working. This morning ... everything work normally.

Many people have had intermittent glitches with the electronics. I've had audio drop out twice, only to be back next time I started the car (after sitting off an hour or so). Quick restart at a stop light wouldn't reset it.

Many have postulated a cause, but it seems related to pushing buttons/controls immediately after starting the engine, or starting up where the Nav cannot get a GPS satellite signal (inside parking garages, etc.).

It's possible that the TSB fixes whatever bugs are causing the glitch.

I just had my 2012 4.6 at the dealer for both the intermittent no audio and the infamous surround sound won't stay checked problem.

They called Hyundai who advised them to switch the head unit out with a car on the lot. Evidently there was a running change made on the head units because the surround now stays selected. But I could swear that the audio is not nearly as "full" sounding.

But I'm not taking it back unless it craters again. Good car...I'll just live with the audio issue.

Holy cow OldGrandad. I had the same problem. 3-4 head units later my surround sound issue is fixed but I also notice a marked decrease in sound quality. Definitely not as crisp, clear, or full sounding. I've complained to Hyundai but they say my radio works and they won't touch it again. It's a shame because I (we) have lost the excellent sound quality that this car has the potential to provide.

If you get it fixed please me let me know. I would like to get this issue resolved despite Hyundai's reluctance to do so.

P.S. I'm surprised they are letting you keep the head unit from another car. I hope they're not putting your unit in the other car.

I thought about that, too. The old unit was loaded with destinations in the nav system...including a POI for "home"......and the phone function contained my entire phone book. Sure hope they erased it. The new unit had two destinations in the nav section but nothing in the phone section.

But I suspect that they would not re-install a head unit with a known defect. Or would they....
