In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. When I bought my 2012 Genesis a month ago, it had 255 miles on it. The outer edge of the driver's side had already began to wrinkle. The outer edge of the foam cushion does not line up with the outer seam in the leather seat either (the edge of the foam is about a half an inch lower than the seam). It is almost looks like the foam is colapsing and is allowing the leather to move? The passenger side looks great, nice and firm no wrinkles. I have taken it to the dealer. The service manager showed me a loaner genesis on the lot with 7500 miles on it and another one that was in for service and the seats on both cars were doing the same thing! He said he spoke with Hyundai and they were not going the replace the seat over a "cosmetic issue", it's just what happens over time as the leather wears. BS, it should not do this after a few hundred miles or a few thousand miles! He said let's keep an eye on it and see if it get worse? I think Hyundai has a quality control issue! I have a call in the Hyundai to see what they tell me? Has anyone else seen this or had this problem?

Take pictures, it's hard to visualize what you're describing.

Center of my driver's seat showed wrinkles from day one.

I have a 2012 3.8 w/ premium and I have the wrinkles and also the little cracks on the left side of my seat as well. I've learned to deal with it as it seems to be an issue with all Genesis, however you may be able to get it stretched to remove the wrinkles as I remember seeing in another thread.

My dealer filled out the stretched leather bottom. I don't have the cracks probably because I use Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner religiously. Seats still looks brand new.

ditto on the lexol.

My 2003 Lexus LS 430 had wrinkles and cracks as well. The leather ventilated seat tends to wrinkle. The air holes in the seat allow the air to cool/heat to make the driver comfortable. Nothing to worry about.

lexol cleaner & conditioner (separate bottles)..

+1

I apply it every other time I wash my car (which is a bit excessive, I think every few months would be fine), keeps leather tout, supple, and none of the slick/shiny result.. it's be used by saddle shop owners and stables for years in the past, pick some up at an Ace Hardware or off amazon. They also make Vinylex which is great for MB Tex (Mercedes syn leather) or the areas that Honda/Acura is choosing to go synthetic with on certain bolster areas of seats (as are other mnftr's)

303 Aerospace is another amazing product, there's a reason why it's sold at Marina shops and utilized by poker run boat owners on their 150-500k dollar boats for leather and vinyl in terms of UV/stain protection. Though, if I had to choose, I'd opt for lexol treatment..as it has always proven top notch results on cadillac, nissan, and BMW leather for me in the past.

I'd highly recommend those seeing the cracking or wrinkling to try it out..its basically botox for the leather and keeps it nice and supple/adding protection in the meantime.

The few cars that i've owned all had very soft leather and were subject to the cracks and wear issues you described. Interesting note my 5+ year old bmw leather seats still look like the day it was purchased. Just a different type of leather. interesting note... I've only put leather conditioner on my bmw once since ownership... never touched the seats again.

keeping the leather treated will extend the life and reduce creases/cracks.

Re: leather seat cushion problem
Got a 2012 genesis 3.8 tech package and got the same problem. 2000 miles the leather has excessive give (loose and wrinkles). Makes the car interior look worn. Dealership supposedly has sent email to Hyundai to inquire. I am concerned with how it will look at 10k or 20k.

I have a 2011 with 71,000 miles on it and the seat is wrinkled however it is holding up very well. Seats with cooling and soft leather will have wrinkles.

At 19,000 miles, my 2012 has done the same thing. The dealer has ordered a new replacement leather insert and cushion, saying they needed to be replaced together. There was no hesitation in making this decision. I am waiting for them to call me when the parts are in.

Thanks guys for the lexol tip!

Hi Guys, I have 18,000 miles and mine looks like this with wrinkles on the edges:

Do you think the dealer would do anything to fix this or will they claim it's wear and tear? I'm really skinny so it's not like I'm overweight and caused that.

Pardon the mess! I have to vacuum today lol

It's leather, it is supposed to wear. If I was a dealer, and someone complained about the seat in the pic above, I would throw the customer off my property and tell them not to come back.

I just expected it to wear with the edges looking like around at least 50,000 miles and not only 18,000. I guess I should use conditioner more often. :)

I'm having the same problem on the bottom of the seat, all stretched out and wrinkled. To be honest this looks like ass... I'm headed to the dealer tomorrow to see if they can replace the seat. This is not normal for a car with 10k... I understand the ventilated seat is a little more flexible but they need to use a thicker leather in the seat pan to prevent this..
