2009 4.6 Hydraulic Brake Failure (no accident)

Wife has been experiencing loss of pedal pressure feels like loss of hydraulic pressure. Took it in to Poway Hyundai and we are told it is the ABS hydraulic switch. Factory warranty is 60k she has 61.5k miles. She did purchase a platinum extended warranty to 100k and dealer is phoning the company to make sure it's covered.

Ready for price? $2,100.00 for part.

Two months ago the brake lights all failed. Wondering....

Any thoughts on pursuing this appreciated in advance.

She pumped it until she got enough pressure to stop and pull over.

Sorry to hear about that and hope its covered. Glad to hear she was calm and wasn't injured. I know what it feels like to hit the brake pedal and have nothing happen. Boiled the brake fluid on a hot track day.

We started talking after we took it in. She recalled that this happened to a lesser degree prior to the warranty expiring and she put it off to wet pavement slippage. Now it has worsened to the point of no brakes. I think the dealer knowing this (we mentioned it to them at the time) will do the right thing. Either way the car is in the shop and there is stays until fixed. The fact that I can google this issue and find some citations could indicate an issue even though there is no recall. In any case, the climate is right for getting the dealer to fix it imho.
