  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I thought I'd post my mileage findings after 2.5 years of recording.
I've converted to US numbers (from litres per 100 kilometres) to US gallon equivalents.
I'm not a lead foot, but not a slow driver either. I like to "exercise" the car now and then:))
My mileage is about 50%city and 50% highway. Taken 3 long trips - 4000 miles, 5000 miles, and 8000 miles. Car now has 63000kms (approx 39500 miles)

My overall average is 10.7 litres per 100km (22 miles per US gallon)
My best tank was during a long trip 8.2 ltrs per 100 (28.7 miles per US gallon)
My worst tank was city only at 15.7 litres per 100 (15.0 miles per US gallon).

It actually isn't much different than a 2005 Taurus I had with a 3.0 motor.

BTW - gas in Canada is about 25 to 30% more than US pricing.

Just thought I'd share this for any comparisons someone might want to do.:)

Thank you for taking the time to do this.

Mine is new.. Not much history yet.

I did drive a Hertz 2012 3.8 8 speed for several months. Racking up 15k plus trouble free, perfect miles. Convinced me to buy one. Except for the Dunglap tires, some if the most noisy I have ever experienced, all was good. Hertz has a national deal for maintenance with Firestone. While they worked the oil, they also fiddled with the tires, cross rotating them and more. Helped quiet them down just a bit.

I got much better mileage than you. High of 33mog, low of 21. Measured not by the computer but by the pump.

Your numbers are close to mine. I get ~23 local and ~28-29 highway. I don't do much city driving, more mixed suburban, and don't spend much time in heavy traffic. When possible I try to time my trips for off-peak times.

I've only had my 2009 3.8 for a few months and do mostly city driving.
Stop and go and slow between the red lights gets me about 15-16 mpg. And I don't drive hard either. I have to say I'm disappointed.
As for highway, I've driven a few long distances and typically average about 75-80 mph and get about 25-27 mpg.

These number are strictly winter driving in the northeast and with the stock dunlaps and Firestone Winter snow tires. I'm hoping the numbers increase a bit now that spring and summer are soon upon us.

Is it possible to check if any software updates are available at the dealer to help the mpg?

just an addendum

I use a PC software program to record all my fill ups and maintenance etc. so my figures are actuals not from the car computer.

I think my city figures are not bad for a motor of that size, and the highway figures are way better than similar cars were just a few years ago.

I had a 1969 hemi road runner - I got between 6 and 9 miles per gallon (but gas was 30 cents a gallon then - wow, am I ever old now:eek:

2011 roughly 2 years old.
50% mixed gets me 16 to 18 MPG
100% highway gets me 25 to 27 MPG at 70 MPH
Very conservative driving (light foot).
I’m very satisfied with those numbers for this kind of vehicle.

Here is the other side of the coin. My R-Spec gets 18 mpg however. I am always first off the line, my foot is pure lead and I have big feet. :D My travelling is 25% city, 75% highway. I really could not care what the mpg is as I bought the car for what it is, not for fuel economy.:D That being said, it is nice to see your figures as it does get pretty good milage for the bulk and power of the car.

Old - amen! My mileage was similar in a 69 Mach 1 SCJ - spent a lot if time at the pump!
