Rear Bumper Hit

Ok so my 2009 got rear ended while parked and the rear bumper cover has to be replaced and I was wondering if the rear bumper cover from a 2012 with the exhaust cutouts would fit my car without too much modification.

I would not do it, unless you like black soot build up on the bumper.

rear lights are not same size as 2012.

You wouldn't get the black soot from the 2009-2011 (non-gdi) genesis, but I don't think the 2012 bumper would blend well since you don't the have 2012 side skirts, plus different tail lamps.

The bumper does fit, a shop in Korea has done this. Cut off muffler tips is about it. Follow this link Tailights are shaped slightly different and stick out on the sides a bit more. I am looking at doing this as well... I got hit last Saturday in parking lot.

Great so it is possible. I like the look of the integrated exhaust but like the look of my lights more, so it will be a good compromise for me.

If one was to keep it waxed and washed regularly, one won't have that issue...

Agreed. A 2009 won't throw soot as it's not a GDI.


DRS has a white 2012 5.0, which is GDI ... hence his comment about soot.

Which is exactly why I steered my friend, who wanted 2012 with white, to get a 4.6. No GDI = No Soot!
