  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got a white 2012 3.8 v6 base so far loving it, was either this or a 2012 Camry SE. While the Camry was fully loaded this thing is on a different league.

So far impressed with the fuel enconomy and power of the v6, since it's my daily driver and road trip car it serves it's purpose nicely. When I want something mean and fast I'll climb in my other car.

Here's a sneak peek of the other car. :)

Supra Turbo....cargasm.

Welcome. I have a 2012 base V6 too. Mine's black and I have added an intake and exhaust if you have questions about anything.

Best and most powerful car I've ever owned (so far).

Thanks, actually wouldn't mind some info on the intake and exhaust setup you got. Was it custom? Did you notice a difference power wise? How's the overall sound of the car now? I must be getting old but I'd like to keep this one quiet lol. But I wouldn't mind some extra power and a bit more snarl under WOT.

I'm with you on the way the car feels and drives, I came from a 98 Camry SE so yea you can imagine what a world of a difference this is. I also had a BMW 745i which is now my dad's car, but he said the Genny feels faster, but I think it's just how DBW is tuned on each car to give it a different feel.

Overall I'm very impressed with the v6, I can't imagine what the V8 or even the R Spec will do, but then again I have the Supra for all out speed machine lol.

The exhaust is actually a Magnaflow kit, but... made for the R-Spec. I kind of went out on a limb and bought it from Hottexhaust.com at a discounted price of ~$860 and hoped it would fit. I had actually done my homework and reviewed the shop manual pictures and the lay outs were identical.

It was a near perfect fit, save for a small modification of one of the flanges that attaches to the cat (don't know if this was a defect in the system, or a legitimate small difference b/t the V6 and R-Spec exhaust lay out).

My intake is custom and has been through an evolution. AEM alleges on their website that their CAI fits the 2012 sedan, but that's a misprint. My intake is about as ghetto, albeit tastefully done (imo) and effective, as you can get.

I built it from a few pieces of 3.5" OD PVC, a metal support bracket, and a Rubbermaid office garbage can (heat shield). Take a look at my gallery here or go to my Cardomain site in my signature for some pics. I painted it matte black with hi-temp engine enamel so it looks clean.

Performance wise, I did manage to knock about 4 tenths of a second off of my best 0-60 times in an experiment that was as well controlled as I could manage. It sounds mean (again, videos are on my CD page) and pulls hard through the gears.

I definitely hear you about keeping it quiet. I've been there and done that and I wanted something a bit more subdued this time. I'm currently running cat deletes and I'm a bit unsure if I will keep them. It's far from loud, but there is a bit of drone until you get up to a decent cruising speed.

Hope this helps.

I saw your CD page, the car looks awesome. The exhaust and intake sounds great, I guess if I was to build one for the genesis I wouldn't have too much trouble with fabbing up a nice aluminum or stainless intake.

But yea it's amazing what some different wheels will do to the looks of the car.

congratulations, and I would say that your other lady is a beast! Cheers

I had a '90 single turbo Supra. It's insane what those six bangers can produce with the right boost (and well managed A/F). I miss that car a lot.

The Supra. Probably my favorite Toyota of all time.

Lucky man... congrats on the Genny too!
