Gentlemen,

I had the opportunity to test drive a Genesis yesterday evening. I must say I was very impressed. The car is rock solid and very quiet. The ride is definitely a nice combination between luxury and sport. The Genesis ride is not soft and floaty like a Cadillac, but it is not too hard and rough like a lot of the European cars. Also, It actually would not surprise me at all if the Genesis is quieter than a Lexus LS460. If you read the owner reviews on Edmunds, one of the biggest complaints about the Lexus LS460 (new body style) is road noise.

Hi BMan,

I moved your reply out of the Hyundai Genesis vs Mercedes E-Class discussion and into its own thread. This way, it'll get more exposure (and it really had nothing to do with that other discussion anyway).

So! I'm glad to hear another positive review of the Genesis! The wind noise in the new Lexus LS460 has been taken care of. Actually, not all dealerships know the solution yet - but it's out there.. They've gone out of their way to replace and change things to avoid the problem (which isn't an issue in ALL LS460s) - but they missed the mark every time. It was a very simply issue that kept getting overlooked...

The solution to that problem is here.

Otherwise.. I'm very impressed with everything I'm hearing about the Genesis.. Though Cadillacs don't ride soft and floaty anymore.. They're actually quite stiff - except for ONE remaining version of the DTS. Think BMW.

I think I'm expecting the Genesis driving experience to be very much like a BMW 7-Series.. Not harsh like 3s and 5s - but softer with excellent handling characteristics...

Maybe we need a few new forums here. Member Genesis Reviews, Member Genesis Showcase, and Member new ride Showcase(Like they do in the GMI). That way, users can post their reviews on their Genesis test drives and his/her opinions, and they can also show off their new ride(Genesis and non-genesis alike).

Well, just a suggestion.

What did you think of the grill? (Sorry, I have to ask everyone that because most people don't like it in pictures, but everyone I've asked in person says they like it)
Also, how did you find the acceleration/throttle response?

I really like the grill. The pictures don't do it justice at all.

I also did a test drive about a week ago, I think it was a package2. The car felt very solid to me and quiet. Build quality and interior finish was good. The seats were almost as good as my wife's Lexus RX350. I was impressed by the V6 even though I was waiting for the V8. I would have bought one already but they didn't have a package4--might be a long wait for that one. I want my factory nav and cooled driver seat. Hopefully sooner than later.

I think the grill looks better in person than in pictures and the rim/wheel combinations look great.

The seats in the v8 will be even better (better leather).

I had a chance to sit in the V8 at the local auto-show. I've test-driven the V6 with Premium Plus package. I would agree with that statement. The difference is very noticeable. Actually, my first thought when I hopped into the V6 was, "What the hell did they do to the seats?!" :)

My wife also has an RX350. The V6 Genesis is quieter in all categories regarding noise (engine, road, wind). I, too, will wait to test drive the V8 with the Tech Package.

I went to look/drive/buy a Genesis this weekend. The local dealer finally got three of them. Black, silver, and a really ugly bluish-silver (personal observation). They were all Premium Plus package.

The car is absolutely awesome. I told myself that I would not buy one unless it had everything. I don't really get too excited about navigation but I want that damn cooled seat. Needless to say, they did not have the technology package on any of them.

New found problem for me. The technology package eliminates the cup holders! What the hell? I can't have a car without cup holders! Can you? Where do you put your beer (just kidding)?

So now I am really confused. I live in Texas and love cooled seats. In the case of the Genesis, cooled seat!

I'm thinking that I may have to skip the Genesis and go with the 2006-7 Infiniti M35. It has everything I want (except larger cabin/ backseat room and it's not a Genesis)

To make matters even worse, the dealer had a "Market Adjustment" of $2500. on all three cars ($38,500). Shame on you Plano, TX Hyundai Dealer!

There is no way I am paying a Market Adjustment.

Geesh, another turned down potential customer. If Hyundai dealers keeps doing this bad business and play these markup games, they can pretty much forget about selling any of them. It's like what, 7th or 8th potential customer they lost already?, from this site at least?.... With no new buyers with the new Genesis posting here, only the ones who walks away due to the horrible dealer tricks that chases them away. Nice going Hyundai. Oh the shame.....

Surely, they should have EDUCATED them, if they wanted to sell any of them. So far, the dealers have all done a 'BANG-UP' Job I can tell....

Hmm... I know the dealership you talked about. :)

I was there this past weekend as well. And, like you, there's no way I'm paying a "market adjustment". Better yet, there's no way I'm paying MSRP for it either.

If enough consumers are saying "no" and let their cars sit for a week or so, they'll come to their senses. As of now, they're fishing for those "gotta have it now" buyers. In this buyer's market, time is on the consumer side.

The Tech Package does not delete the cupholders. Texas is a big state, are there no other dealers you could check out? Don't get me wrong, I love the M35/45 and think they're great cars. Are they worth $10-15k extra? Only you can decide. Personally I think the Genesis blows the M out of the water in terms of refinement, if that matters at all to you. Be sure to keep us posted, no matter what you get. :)

Sounds like Genesis WILL fail. Fail miserably that is. As I have expected in the first place. Even though, unlike my speculation, it won't fail cause of the car, but the lame dealers who wants to pocket more money out of their potential customers, even though the public already knows the exact price of the car.

I hope not ALL Hyundai dealers are like that, but so far, all the dealers that the members here post all seems to mis-practice this business and tries to rip-off its possible customers and drives them away.

Nice going Hyundai, let's see if you can hang on by keep doing this. As I have expected before, I think the Genesis will probably end up sitting in the showroom gaining dust like the Sonatas have about an year ago, and sold to the fleets, that goes down in value drastically.

Oh the shame.....

Don't you think you're putting the horse before the cart? I mean, the Genesis hasn't even arrived at most dealerships yet. And I noticed that you commented on Hyundai botching the Veracruz launch in another post. Last I checked sales were fairly strong for the Veracruz.

I think the dealer markups, in a perverse way, may help Hyundai gauge how much consumers are willing to pay for their cars. So far, at least on these forums, they're not doing very well.

I got a call back from the dealer asking how much I'd like to pay for it. Ahh... I guess they're not getting any bites for their markups and are now looking to negotiate. Heck, I refuse to negotiate from MSRP, let alone "market adjustment".

This is turning me off rather quickly. I still have a curiosity to test drive the V8. But if this dealer cr*p continues, I'll take my money elsewhere.

Well, the fact of the matter is, I am having a tough time seeing that many Veracruz, or Azera for that matter. Sure, they are more of an upscale model for Hyundai, but they've been around for quite some time. I do see a tons of Elantras, accents, tuscans, Sonatas(both new and old) and others cruising around everywhere, but I pretty much don't see much of those 2 normally.

Sure the Genesis isn't available statewide yet, but you already see people walk away from many of the dealers in the states where they have them in stock. THAT, isn't a good sign, you know.

As everyone knows, if you know anything about buying cars, NOBODY deals from the MSRP, let alone this nonsense called 'MARKET ADJUSTMENT' which I have never heard before, nor any markup games that the dealers loves to play. Everyone who have dealt at least once from any dealer knows you should deal from the Invoice price. Nothing else. Surely, Hyundai Dealers should know this, and should know that this 'BAIT' of theirs will never work to today's car buying consumers. NOT Anymore.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I payed near MSRP, I must be a sucker! ;)

As I see it, the people who come into a Hyundai dealership specifically to test drive the Genesis are consumers who may have followed its development for a while. These are consumers who are more likely to buy it. But these are also informed consumers such that these dealer markup games would not work.

I bought a 1998 Maxima GLE for $2000 below invoice, a 2002 Acura TL at invoice, and a 2008 Lexus RX350 at invoice (all loaded). What are the chances of me buying a Hyundai at $2500 ABOVE MSRP???
