Hello, I bought a certified used 2010 genesis 3.8 v6 sedan beginning of 2013.
Luckily, I extended my warranty. If I didn't, I would've paid a lot of money to fix this genesis. I'll just share to everyone what I have experienced in less than 1 YEAR with this genesis sedan so that others may know. Here we go.
1) The first problem I encountered was the parking brake. The parking brake light didn't come on and was fully engaged while I was driving. Leaving me a useless parking brake that didn't work.
Hyundai's solution: Changed the parking brake light switch and adjust the parking brake to grab the rotors.
2) Second problem was the passenger side high beam. A bulb was missing and was pointing way to high to the sky while the low beam is normal leveled with the driver side headlight.
Hyundai's solution: Changed the whole passenger side headlight assembly
3) Third problem was the brake fluid recall. (All of you will probably know already)
4) Fourth problem was the loud whining noise from the front of the engine. That sounded like I had a supercharger, but I didn't.
Hyundai's solution: idler pulley making abnormal noise was replaced.
5) Fifth problem was the night time running lights only on the front and back driver's side doesn't come on but passenger side did. (I have pictures of this)
Hyundai's solution: Replaced ER Fuse Box or junction box
6) Sixth problem was the Dome lights flickering. Every so often when I open the door, the dome lights flicker like I'm in a club or disco. I thought I was going to get a seizure. (I have video proof of this)
Hyundai's solution: Check wire connector and ground. Found ground wire at LH.front kick panel loose. Remove and clean out wire terminal and reinstall.
7) Seventh problem was the brake pedal squeaks and only 2 occurrences where I have had the brake pedal all the way down but still made the pads grab the rotors. Thank GOD.
Hyundai's solution: Brake master has internal leak. Pedal goes to floor. Replace brake master and air bleed system.
8) Eighth problem was the brake light switch recall. (Everyone should know about this and I recently changed it a week ago.)
The problem with this new brake light switch that I have encountered was the brake light doesn't come on when it's lightly braking. Especially when I get stuck in traffic in low speeds.
While writing about this I'm going head off to the dealership and get that adjusted.
But if anyone knows how to remove the plastic cover, where the brake light switch is. I will greatly appreciate it.
Hope this helps anyone.
