Can I disable one of my key fobs?

2013 Genesis sedan.
Sometime my wife leaves her purse in the trunk with her key fob in it when we walk, etc.

Is there a way to disable one key fob so someone can't get in the locked car while we're gone yet still have mine working?

Take out the battery or place in a lead lined case.

Once your wife's purse w/ key fob is in trunk you can disable the auto trunk open by way of the trunk disengage button located in the glove compartment .

Once you return to the car you will need to reverse the process to unlock and open trunk.
Of course you can also open trunk with metal key removed from fob.

Doors lock and stay locked on my 2010 tech pkg Gen.
One would absolutely need to test on their own Gen to be sure the doors are locked.
Please be sure it works for your car. I would not want anyone to leave their car unsecured as a result of my advice without first
Confirming it works for you.

When testing make sure 2nd key fob is far enough away from car to not be recognized.

On my 2009 if a fob is in the trunk I'll get a long BEEEEEEEP warning if I close the trunk lid while the engine is off. The "key in car" detectors clearly can see into the trunk on my car. I tested this a long time ago, one fob in my pocket, the other in my briefcase in the trunk... I carried both at the time in case one died or got lost since I'd be stranded (nobody at home to call and say "bring me the other fob"). After work one day I tried to lock the briefcase in the trunk while I went to dinner and the car warned me that I was leaving the fob behind. Had to pocket both of them to get the car to be quiet and lock the doors.

I believe the other thing you can do is to manually lock the car door with the actual key that is in your fob.

Basically what my 2009 does. I just tested it:
a) tossed a fob in the trunk, closed the trunk. Got a long and loud BEEP as I expected.

b) once the beep finished, I tried to lock the doors with the door handle push button: the doors did NOT lock, verifying the theory the car tries to help you not lock the key fob in the car accidentally.

c) tried locking with the second key fob: locked normally and remained locked. This surprised me.

d) I then put the second key fob on the other end of the house so the car couldn't detect it. I tried to unlock the doors with the door push button: nope, stayed locked even with a fob in the trunk.

e) tried to open the trunk: it opened and the car flashed the amber lamps to let me know the alarm was temporarily dis-ARMing... the alarm detected the fob in the trunk and didn't realize it was inside the car instead of in my pocket. When I closed the trunk the lights blinked again to signal alarm ARMed again.

So, to lock a fob in the trunk, one has to remember to use the glove box push button to disable electrical controls of the trunk first, then lock the car with the other fob. And hopefully nobody notices the long BEEP telling the world "there is a key fob somewhere in this car... break in and find it, drive away." If you skip setting the glove box switch then the trunk is effectively unlocked and anybody can easily get into it.

Try wrapping the key in aluminum foil. I've tested other transponder systems and wrapping the key blocks the signal.
