  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a "new to me" 2012 w/ the tech package (I think). It has the control knob on the center console and the Lexicon stereo. I think I've figured out most of the gizmos but I have a few questions.

Is there an actual key? The door handles have a key hole. Is it hidden in the remote?

Is there some kind of screen for the rear glass?

Is there a way to limit how for back the seat goes wen the easy entry system is turned on? I have to stretch to get on the brake pedal.

Does the GPS show traffic? I have the xm radio subscription. Is traffic an option?

Thanks
Rick

Yes, key is in remote. Press the small round button and pull it out. You need to find a hard or soft copy of Owner's Manual.

:welcome: to the Forums and congrats on your new Genny !

Answered by Mark888 (button on key fob releases the actual key).

The button for the screen is on your door right next to the 1-2 seat preset keys.

When you have this feature on the seat goes fully back, no in between option on that unless you turn the function off.

Yes the XM subscription has traffic available for it and costs about $4.00/mo, all you need to do is call them with your radio ID# and they will add this service. After that you will see traffic flow patterns appear, but they are only as good as the traffic accident reporting system in the area your traveling.......at times it displays very little information.

Thanks. I'm really liking this car. A little technology overload, but I'm getting there. The transmission is amazing.

You can selectively and independently turn on or off the wheel tilt and then seat repositioning from the vehicle settings menu on the screen.

I use the wheel tilt but not the seat repositioning function.

There is a lot to learn about this car if you (like me) have never had a car w/so much "stuff" on it. Seems like I spent the first couple months asking questions that now seem very elementary. You'll learn. The manual is your best friend and the forums are your 2nd best friend.

Welcome and enjoy.

Read and study your manuals carefully and thoroughly. If you don't you are headed for frustration with your car one day. ( ie. the gas tank filler cover emergence release.) It took my wife and I about a month to master all the features and voice control commands.

A month?! I've had my car 4 years and have yet even to try voice commands. I suspect I never will...

After about a month I have a better handle on the gizmos. I am getting what I assume are sensor malfunctions or software bugs. No big deal, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced them? About once a week the automatic wipers turns on for no apparent reason. They only wipe once then back off again. Less often, 3 times so far, the steering wheel will not come into driving position when I start the car. If I shut down and try again, everything works fine.

Thanks, I'll try try the memory button.
Gotta say I really enjoy the sound quality with my iPhone connected.

It's said that dust can trigger the auto wipers. If you are smart you will always leave your wipers in the OFF position until rain begins. This also helps ensure that you won't forget to turn them off when entering a car wash. Who needs wipers shaped like pretzels?

If you are smarter, you will leave the wipers in the AUTO position and let the car do its thing and not worry about it.

We Army vets are smart enough to know when rain begins.

So Army vets are smart enough to know when rain begins, but not smart enough to remember to turn off the wipers before entering a car wash? Got it.

Here's a quote from the wife of a Marine:

#^%€!!!! You didn't tell me I had to shut off the auto wipers before entering the car wash!

Here's a quote from the wife of a Marine:

"Wife of a Marine" is not the same as "a Marine." That concept should be simple enough that even an Army vet can understand it.

The OFF setting on the auto wipers is analogous to the safety button/switch on a firearm. It does not exist merely to use only when entering a car wash. Keeping the switch set to off also eliminates dry wipes, the problem noted by the poster above. This all makes perfect sense to the Army.

I have no doubt of that, considering just how absurd this whole thing really is.
