  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, I had my new genesis for about one month now and I love the car and I've been getting lots of compliments on it (see my other post) but it seems trouble is following this car. This is what have happened so far..

1) Second day of driving the car. Parked the car at grocery store (I tried to park far out so that other cars were not nearby) for short time. As I came out with grocery, I see a really old beat up ford Taurus parked next to my car with really fat lady in it pulling out fast. I notice a noticeable ding right near the driver door handle where it looked like she opened the door.

2) Second week of driving the car on the freeway I hear a crack on my window. Flying rock hit the windshield and cracked it. Luckily it was repairable and I had to take it to window repair to get it patched up.

3) Now just this week (little over month now) I parked my car in a city garage for work and some A**hole side swiped my car while I was gone and ran off. When I came back to my car nobody saw it and the A**hole who hit me is long gone. My beautiful Genny is now damaged with ugly swipe mark. Body shop gives me an estimate for $2,500. My insurance won't cover it as a hit and run so I have to pay $1,000 out of pocket for deductible!!

Now, I've owned many cars in 30+ years of driving and this is the worst luck I've had on a car so far. If all this happened in first month of owning, I am afraid what else will happen to the car.

I wonder if this car is attracting too much attention (Good or bad) as bad people see a nice shiny car and want to inflict damage on purpose. Anyway, I had to vent. Thanks for listening.

Hopefully you just advanced all the things that were going to happen over the next 5 years. Clear sailing from now on.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Park in the back corner of the lot with the rest of us paranoid car freaks and dont follow too close on the highway. For the side swipe.. that sucks.. id suggest avoiding idiots but the roads are full of them..

Bad things seem to happen in threes, (at lease that’s been my experience anyway).
It’s hard but try to always look to the positive, but when your down you just have to get up and dust yourself off and carry on.
My dad had a saying that I think holds true, it was this:
“I cried because I had no shoes, until I seen a man with no feet.”
Cars and things can be replaced / repaired but life can’t.

Ugh. I hate reading all that. If it is any comfort, I had a car I thought was cursed about 20 years ago. I bought a new Infiniti G20. I loved that car. The first month, somebody keyed the car massively down the side. Then, a few months later, a buddy of mine was falling over on his bicycle and put his hand out. Massively dented the door. Another friend backed into the front of it and trashed the hood. I think I had one or two other significant damage events. And it was overall a massive door ding magnet.

No car before or after has compared to that one for number of times the paint was damaged.

First thing I do when I buy a car... take it to the grocery store and push a shopping cart it to the bumper (not too hard mind you).

there is a small blemish now... I did it... got it over with, and it was my fault.

No need to get blood pressure up.

I can beat that.

When I bought mine, I drove an hour and 20 minutes to the dealer (for the best deal of course), did all the paperwork, signed over the Avalon, and the helpful salesman goes out to get the prep boys moving faster with cleaning it up.

He ends up dropping the spray gun on the passenger door and leaves a nice dent in the car before it left the lot.

I filled out more paperwork to "borrow" the Avalon and came back a week later after they fixed it.

My co-worker told me to put an egg on the road and run it over with it the car. Something about blessing it so that drives out bad luck/evil spirits. May have to try that...
