Been here awhile...
I may have missed this in the 20 million posts for the Genesis, but I'll post this anyway.
Climbing a 5%+ grade in the mountains of Utah under cruise control at around 75, I thought I would see if I could get the my 2012 V6 to hold 8th gear by putting it into manual shift mode to reduce gear searching a bit.
Not a good choice!!!
Going just a few ticks under 70, the tranny suddenly downshifted all the way from 8th to 3rd gear!!!
I quickly shoved the transmission back into auto mode and it upshifted to a more reasonable gear. I didn't not see the engine exceed redline on the tach, but it was close.
I don't expect perfect performance from the car in this rather unique situation, but this was just "a bit" unnerving and not what I would expect any auto-tranny car to do.
The tranny logic was reflashed with latest firmware just a few months ago.
