  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone figured out a way to get some intake noise out of this engine? I know in some cars you can remove some sort of intake resonator to hear the intake. Has anyone done this in the 3.8 gen?

There are two resonator "bottles" on the intake tube between the filter box and TB. Removing these and replacing with a cap (I used a vitamin bottle cap with black tape) and then also adding a K&N panel filter will get you some more intake noise.

I've since moved on to a true custom intake, but I did start with what you're referring to.

No offense sounds kinda ghetto lol. I don't really understad it either.

There are a number of CAI options for the 3.6. Look into that option, since you do not understand the DIY. CAI would be a better option anyway, IMO.

If you search, I believe zielritter posted a DIY as to how to do the mod he described (if not him, another did, as I have seen it) if you prefer.

I can't find anything. Can you post the links here?

It's not "ghetto" if you do it right. The bottles are on underside of the intake tube so once you remove and seal them you can't see a thing after reinstalled.

Have you ever removed the intake tube and filter box from a vehicle?. If you have, then this is the same simple process.

Also, there are no CAI options for the 3.8 Sedan - just the coupe. Believe me, I would've bought one rather than building my own if there was an AEM or Injen solution for the 3.8.

I'm not familiar with any post showing how to remove the sedan's intake tube resonators so I can't point you to any DYI's, but I know I was able to do it myself without any guidance.

Just remove the tube that goes between the TB and your filter box. You will see two containers that are bolted to it on the underside. Remove these and seal them off.

Sorry, I don't have any pictures but if you want to start the process and post pictures and questions as you go along I will help you best I can.

Damn i wish their were pictures. Will this void warranty?

How did you built your own intake? I know their is an intake on ebay for the genesis sedan but it is a no name intake.

I used 4 and 3.5" aluminum piping and couplers from siliconeintakes.com. I cut them to the shapes I needed with a Dremel and file adn then attached a 4" K&N cone filter. I also had to make sure there was a spot for my vacuum hose and IAT sensor.

I have the 5.0 R spec for my intake plugs. I just picked up 2 PVC pipe ends from Home Depot and painted them black. Looks clean and factory.

Have you found what you needed brother? I took my intake into my local hardware, and bought 2 black rubber plugs out of the plumbing section. They look like corks, but are more like pancakes as opposed to wine bottle corks if that makes sense. I spent 5$ for both. One is bigger than the other, keep that in mind if you end up buying a pvc cap of sorts. Like I said, best way is to take it off the car and go hunting. What I ended up with fits like factory. I dont have a clean shot of both, but heres a hint of the bigger one.
