  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,
Ive been shopping for a new Genesis.
I have noticed in the 2013 Genesis Sedan brochure that the only "White" offered was "White Satin Pearl".
On carsc.com there are several 2013 R-Specs that are listed as "Cassablanca White".
Can anyone tell me if these two whites were in fact offered in 2013 or are these dealers simply mistaken in their listings?

Thanks in advance.

Casablanca is a 2014 color, the website is confused.

In reality they are so close to one another that you can hardly tell the difference. The Partisan Grey and the '13 Titainum are so alike you cant tell unless the cars are sitting together, or even then....

LOL, not that close.... The Parisian Gray is blueish. You can tell the difference. Just look at both of them.

nice one is mine :p

White Satin Pearl was made until the middle of the 2013 model year and then they switched to Casablanca white. I searched long and hard in January 2014 to find a White Satin Pearl 2013 R-Spec and finally found one. I found that side by side, I REALLY liked the depth of the White Satin Pearl over the Casablanca.

Looking at a 2013 R-spec in black, never had a black car before. Thoughts on black, keeping it clean and how to avoid the swirls that you see so often in dark cars, especially black. Car looks damn good when clean, brand new and on sale at 38000. Will be my first Hyundai.

Black is WORK if you want to keep it looking good. I see you're in TX. so it going to be HOT. The only way I would purchase another black car is if it were garaged at home and work.

1) Keep in garage
2) Carry a microfiber towel and a bottle of quick detailer with you at all times to remove bird droppings, bugs, etc
3) I would recommend a clear bra (i.e. XPel) for the hood, bumper, mirrors, quarter panels)
4) Highly suggest something like Opti Coat for the rest of the car
5) Invest in a foam cannon/gun for washing. I have one and after 1 year of weekly washes I have no swirls/scratches
6) Microfiber or lambs wool wash mitt with 2 bucket method

Swirl marks are caused when something harder then paint is dragged across the paint. Like sand in a rag or towel.

Go to sams and buy a box of microfiber cloths. Always use a new cloth each time. Never use a cloth twice. Never wipe the car if you can avoid it, especially when dry.

As the other poster said, there is a BIG difference between Parisian Gray and Titanium Gray. I have both colors currently a 2011 Titanium Gray and a 2014 Parisian Gray R Spec. The Parisian is a dark Blueish Gray and the Titanium Gray is almost Silver

In addition - My detail-er made me throw away my Car duster - Why would you want to push dirt around on the vehicles finish? He made a good point, so I ditched that product for life.

All excellent advice guys, but I'd like to point out that when buying microfiber you want something that is high quality and very soft, which is why you do NOT want anything from Discount stores etc. Stick to retail that deals in automotive detailing such as the detailedimage or even Amazon, BUT know what to look for. Anyone remember my thread of my black Genesis scratched to hell? Using low quality wash media cost me a lot of money in paint correction. I'm glad my detail-er took the time to educate me on what I was doing wrong and how to properly wash a vehicle. Part of my problem was using low quality products:(

Nothing looks better than a Black car at sundown.. The rest of the day, black has never been my favourite.
