2012 3.8 - 14600 miles on it and heading in for second oil change this Friday. Had the car less than a year - was manager's car from the dealer and they put the first 5000 miles on it.

No question in my mind from reading the manual - 7500 miles.

Yes my front sensors need to be replaced too - beeping when I stop, beeping when I've told them to be off.

How do you turn your sensors off? Mine quit a week ago so maybe they were accidentally turned off.

It is 7500 now with most newer cars. The dealerships and shops still say the old 3500 because they have lost a TON of money by cars not needing more frequent oil changes. I think 3500 oil changes went out, what? 10-15 years ago.

I have had my Genesis 3.8 for 2 years. It just had its fourth oil change at 28600. Was going to wait until 30000 but already at service place due to needing new tires (don't even get me started!).

7500 is fine and is what the manual says.

My dealer is GREAT relative to other dealers that lie and twist things around. Hyundai requires oil changes at 7,500 miles with normal driving. 3,750 miles if hard city stop n go driving.

My dealer doesn't even ask me, they just put the sticker on windshield that indicates the next change is 7,500 miles. On my own accord I get the oil changed at 3,500 miles since I bought a plan that pays for oil changes for the 1st 3 years or 48,000 miles.

Get your oil done at 7,500 miles --- I doubt you run your car very hard and you don't drive much. Just hearing about your hassles at your dealer makes me happy I have an honest easy to get along with dealer, and it makes me keep my business with my dealer -- Parkway Hyundai. Regards.

I read manuals when I need information. After I bought the car and was told 7500 miles I believe I did check it and also I remember searching this forum to see of that was what other people were doing and it seemed to be an accepted thing that 7500 miles was fine. It has been almost 2 years since then so I went ahead and double checked. It does indeed say 7500 miles or every 12 months whichever comes first. It has the schpeal about "severe" driving conditions which they can try to apply to every car sold here but I do not consider any of my driving to be severe. We have 3 cars all of which I maintain.

I usually rotate tires at every or every other oil change...depending on which car it is.

You are doing the right thing. Stay with your plan. It's 7,500 for your driving situation. I'd been ranting myself if my dealer treated me as your dealer does. Previous to my dealership changing owners I used to have to fight with the service person and it made me stop going to the dealer for service. Once an honest owner took over the business, it has changed dramatically, and I can see the change with the other customers at the dealer -- they are happy and not arguing as with the previous owner. When you find a good honest dealership, that's a real treasure IMHO. regards.

Buy Mobile 1 at Costco when it goes on sale, stock up, bring it with me to the dealer every 5k miles.
Texas kinda falls in the extreme conditions category...better safe than sorry.
Follow the manual for everything else, free tire rotations from tire dealer.

Actually she came in here whining that the saleman had "dun her in." I merely helped her to understand that it was her job to read the manual. Anybody who changes their oil only once in 3 years is ignoring the realities of car. maintenance. I doubt her tires got rotated either. Thanks for your 2¢, though.

Already told you I checked the manual out and double checked what people did here...this was almost 2 years ago though so forgive me needing to double check it...I have had lots of cars over the years and sometimes I get confused.

Where does it say I changed my oil once in 3 years?? I change my oil at the recommended intervals always. Before I moved to a place where I don't have a driveway I did my oil changes myself. My tires get rotated. I've owned several Mustangs over the years on which I have changed my own brakes, belts, exhaust, intakes, control arms etc.

So yeah...your piece back in your pants please.

Service adviser at my dealership told me that Hyundai have two suggestions for oil change interval: 3,500 and 7,000 miles. It depends on where you live. Adviser told me that because I live in Michigan (snow, salt, cold winter temps, terrible roads, and other crap) my interval is 3,500 with regular oil, and 4,500 with synthetic. If I lived in Florida my oil change interval would be 7,000 miles. I hope it makes sense.

Last time I had oil change I asked to put synthetic.

i live in FL, and was told that since it is hot outside here that the temperature qualifies it for harsh conditions.
I ignore their BS. I did the first one at 1000 mi, the second one at 5k, and plan on doing them at 5k.
I have had the car exactly a year and 4 days now, and am only up to 7700 mi on it.

Funny, mine told me the opposite...because I live in Florida with the heat, every 3500...typical dealer BS.
