  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know what the newest map version is for a 2011 Sedan 4.6 that does not have a touch screen?

What version?
When released?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
so, I assume that this is not the latest update:

3.00.00 2012.9.01.01

This is what my car has currently.

Don't forget that there is a difference between GPS software version, and map version. But I have no idea how to reconcile those numbers. I would contact your dealer, which is the only place you can get an upgrade if one is available.

Oh, forgive me for not clarifying. I am referring to the latest map version. The dealer just did a map update for me yesterday and from looking at the version it looks like it is 2012 which seems strange that the newest map is that old and there is not a newer one.

And what is the difference between the two?

How much did you pay for the update, if you don't mind my asking?

I did not pay anything, it was negotiated as part of my purchase of the car not long ago.

However, the salesman indicated it was "like a $500 upgrade", but the service advisor said it would have cost $99.

Mapnsoft website lists it as $99, as a special.

But then again this is for V7, which is not what I think I have.

Yes, $99 PLUS a labor charge!

I say to hell with updating. I always have my iphone in my pocket if my dash Nav fails me.

I have considered using a separate NAV method, but if they are telling me they will upgrade my NAV for free, I want to make darn sure they are updating it to the latest map available and I doubt that what I have is the most current.

I would contact MapNSoft and see if they can figure out whether you map is current after dealer upgrade.

Remember there is GPS software that gets upgraded periodically, and also the actual maps that get upgraded. I have no idea what version you actually have.

It may depend on your model, but for my 2013 R-Spec the update is an owner installable update. The update comes on a USB memory stick and installation seems pretty straight forward.

The website to check is www.hyundai-gpsmap.us website. I used the "Chat live" feature to ask whether the update is "owner installable" or "dealer installed". I was told by online agent Chevas (after he checked his resources) that the update IS owner installable.

I also called the Contact Us phone#. (Note-the phone# shown on the website did not connect, so I used the # from the mapnsoft site). The agent I spoke to confirmed that the update IS owner installable. She told me that lots of people have ordered it. She also told me that the www.hyundai-gpsmap.us website is a new website and a lot of the MnSOFT people are not up-to-date on it yet.

So, I set up a New Account on the website. They ask for your VIN and Device ID as part of the setup. After that, I put the update for my Genesis in the "Cart" and ordered it. It will be shipped via FedEx Ground and should arrive in about a week or less. I'll try to keep you posted to let you know how the delivery and installation goes.

FedEx tracking info just arrived. Delivery is scheduled for Fri, June 6.

My v7 Map Update just arrived via FedEx. I'll probably install it this weekend.

I envy you wchettel! I have the 2012 DIS nav unit and it is NOT upgradeble by the user. I just recently had my NAV updated to the V7 edition ($198 plus tax, that includes the current $99 software special and the instillation charge).

Ekring67 my new maps are identifyed as 3.00.00 2012.9.01.01

I'm getting this week from my dealer.

$175 CAN installed. Not too bad, since the software is $99.

Edit:
Well they emailed me back and said "Plus $250" for the labor. That's nuts. So, I'd like to order that $99, but it only works in the US.

Another update. They will ship to Canada if you call them, however they said the current version is bugged and they wont ship it. They expect version 8 to be available in August.

....

I just finished installing my new v7 Map Update. The installation took almost exactly 1 hour and was very easy and uneventful. There was nothing I had to do after the initial OK press to start it off. It was a lot like watching paint dry.

After the install I went to the System Update screen to check the version of the new update and was surprised to see that in addition to the Map update, ALL the software modules show that they've been updated also. And, nothing was wiped out of system memory like My Places and Previous Destinations.

I've not had a chance to take the Genesis out for a ride to test the new stuff yet but I do have a trip of approx 700 mi. planned about 2 weeks from now.

Here's a few pics that show the before and after version numbers: (Note: I purchased my 2013 R-Spec May 26, 2013 and it was manufactured on Mar 13, 2013.)
