  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, I just purchased my fully load 2011 4.6L gen today... just have a couple inquiries.

1. where can I purchase Rspec head and tail lights?
2. smart keys can only be reprogrammed by the dealer? (one that came with the car doesnt work)
3. can the auto folding mirrors be added to mine?
4. should my smile be so big while driving? :)

  1. The 2012+ tail lights are not an exact fit on your car and will bulge out. There are threads about this. I think that possibly any 2012-2013 tail light is the same, regardless of trim level (not just R-Spec). Not sure about headlights, but search the forum.
  2. Yes, they can only be programmed by dealers or professional car thieves.
  3. Don't you already have those? But I really don't know.
Parts can be purchased at dealer parts department, or websites like this that are run by dealers:
www.newhyundaiparts.com
There are also websites that sell used parts. Try Google.

Does any 2009-2014 Genesis have auto-folding mirror housing without having to flip a switch? I thought the mirror part just aims down automatically when in reverse, etc, but not fold-in.

I know the 3.8 '12 that I also looked had a switch to fold the mirrors in. I guess "auto" was the wrong word.

I think he's referring to the power folding mirrors that fold in with the button above the windows switches on the driver side. Those are a 2012+ feature.

No turning back now, but for the price of the newer headlights, taillights, and mirrors, you could have bought a year newer Genesis with all of these features you desire, but in R Spec trim and had a 5.0L engine, 19" wheels and better suspension....

not really... all the Rspecs in my area are 30-33k, I got mine for 22k. Quite a bit of a jump for a few minor differences.

I think you will be in for a surprise when you price out all of the parts. My '09 headlights are $1,000/each, and a 2012 is even more. If the price of the parts for those minor changes close the gap within a few grand of an R Spec:confused:

Hey, SlowFL. If the tail lamps were a direct swap, I'd trade you even-up. There are a few threads in the forum that address the issues with the retrofit.

From what I know, the '12-'13 lamps would protrude from the side of your car. Getting the '09-'11 lamps to fit my car may require just a thin shim or two. Nobody has offered advice on the portion that is fitted to the desk lid, so I'll guess them to be a direct fit.

Call me crazy, but, I prefer the look of the older lamps.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

BTW...Nice Tib. Looks modded. What year?
