  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 4.6L Genesis w/ tech package since XMas, and in the last few days, my phone keeps disconnecting and will not reconnect until I pull the battery out of my phone and restart it. This didn't happen in the first month I had it, but started in the last week, and has happened about 4 times. When I try to "pair" the phone, it tells me the Bluetoth connection "fails".

Any ideas on what is going on???

Thanks!

I had this happen one time, and it turns out the bluetooth function in the phone had somehow been toggled off. [It's buried in some system menu on the phone]. Since turning it back on, its worked fine.

I think the first question would be which device is failing.... Do you use a headset with your phone? and if yes, does it drop connection?

Have you tested another phone?
(get a friend to sync and use the phone from your car for a while)

Thanks for responding. The phone shows me connected, but when I try to call sometimes, it tells me it's not connected.

Re: 2nd post: no headset, just a basic Samsung phone w/ Sprint, and no, I haven't tried to connect another phone. Myphone works about 90% of the time, just sometimes it won't.

There is another long thread in here somewhere on this issue. [search for 'bluetooth'] Do you have internet/email access with this phone? If it starts out connected and then all of a sudden it's disconnected, reports indicate this occurs [only on some phones] when the phone 'calls home' on the data plan. Apparently some phones re-connect OK after an email update, and others require a user intervention. The way to check is to turn off internet access in your phone and see how it behaves with the car.

@BayWayRic: The phone I use does not use the internet, but I will look through the other thread you mentioned and see if I can figure out what's going on. Thanks!

I do remember one time getting a text message into the phone and that caused a disconnection, but the other times, that wasn't the case
