  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New 3.8 AWD Tech having two issues so far. First, front park assist sensors going off intermittently when coming to a stop with no visible obstructions, such as at a traffic light. Tech at dealership said, "well its not doing it now so I can't help you". REALLY? They said they "recalibrated the system" but it is still doing this quite often. Anyone else have this issue? Second, the Nav system makes a Doorbell like "Ding" every time I approach my Home location. This is very annoying and the Dealer does not know how to turn it off.

Thanks,

TR

The chime for home can be disabled in the ultimate, I'm not sure if the option is the same though. As for the front sensors is there a significant incline in front of you when this happens?

Hyundai policy is that they will not replace any parts unless they can reproduce the problem. If you can capture it on video, that might help.

Italiabrain- can you tell me how to disable the "Home" Chime? This is driving the wife nuts! "Like I need the #%@# car to tell me I'm home"

Good idea on capturing the Parking assist malfunction on Video. It seems to happen randomly, not specific to any road surface condition or slope.

Thanks

From another poster (rpler):

"I had the same thing after setting home address. Go to navigation find your saved address and in menu go to edit. You will see a check mark in box in sound alert. Just unchecked and save"

Hope this helps.... Keep us posted on your other issue.

I've had that happen once in a great while. I don't know if it's something weird about the shape of the rear end of the car in front of me or what but I have had it happen. I was behind a BMW X5 (I think it was anyway) and every light we stopped at it did it, but have only had it happen a couple of times since. Maybe it's like a dog that will only growl under it's breath when it sees a certain other dog? :)

Since you were behind a BMW could it be that it had radar (or sonar) sensors in the back. I’ve often thought about the likelihood of two radar (or sonar) systems interacting if it’s at all possible. Food for thought.

Come to think of it I had to move my sonar parking sensor in the garage because it was triggering the cars sensors. Had to move it up higher to the level of the plate.

Interesting theory - you may well be right. I'll have to keep that in mind next time it happens. Though, come to think about it, if that was the case it seems like it would happen MORE often cuz so many cars have sensors back there. Also, aren't the rear sensors on most cars only active when in reverse? Maybe some cars have rear sensors active all of the time?

I’m sure the rear sensors for the LDWS is on all the time and what about the Blind Spot Monitoring System those are rear sensors.

Parking is in the kHz range (ultrasonic) ... not GHz (radio).

Blind spot detection is active all the time and those systems typically operate at 24 GHz. Don't know what frequency the parking assist uses.

Always been interested in finding these operational specifications pertaining to car systems which are not often easily obtainable. Would appreciate any information on access to such.

Found the option for the home sound alert and turned it off:)

Thanks for the tip.

Wrote Hyundai customer care about the dealer not being able to correct the falsely alarming front parking sensor and got an immediate follow-up which was great. I think they will fix it next week. Everything I read on this forum indicates a defective sensor.

I believe the LDWS is just the forward looking camera - no extra sensors, and no rear looking sensors involved. But the Blindspot sensors are active and rearward- but not sensing/transmitting straight back. Not sure if rear parking sensors are only active in reverse or whether they are always active, but only trigger alarms if the car is in reverse?

There's that?

I have a 2015 3.8 Tech Canadian Version with all wheel drive etc. I am having an intermittent issue where the car, while travelling at highway speed, will beep and indicate "BSD Canceled" in a pop up window on the Dash in between the speedo and tach. If you press OK it goes away and beeps a couple of seconds later and pops up the message again. The dealer has not been able to duplicate the issue so it will go unresolved. If you stop and turn off the car and restart it, it will be good for a while again.

My theory is it might be ice related as every time it has happened it was on icy snowy Canadian roads.

I need to update the footer here I dont have the 2009 any more but sold it with technology issues that the dealers could not duplicate so never got resolved.

BMW X3's seem to trigger my front parking assist sensors intermittently when I'm stopped behind one at a traffic light. It's only happened to me 3 times, but each time, there was a BMW X3 in front of me...
