  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Nothing scientific for sure but after filling my Gen 1 and going to work for the last 4 years which translates to about 60,000km, I got a pretty good idea of how much gas I use every week. Now that I have my 2015 and the milage is supposed to suck I am quite surprised I am using substantially less than my rspec at least 10-12%. My average on my Rspec sayed around 13-13.5l/100km and the Gen2 is floating around 11-12l/100km. The gauge does read differently however when empty I used to put in 70l to fill for about 500-520km and now I out in 65l for the same milage. On top of that the car is still new so I expect this to get slightly better with time.

At the end of the day though it will cost the same as the previous Gen due to the $250 a year credit I received from Hyundai because of the incorrectly published gas figures on the Gen 1 which was lost with the sale of the car.

It will be interesting to see how that develops for you. I think mileage is one of the reasons we here in the states we didn’t initially get the 5.0 AWD.

Thanks for the update Midnight. On a tangent, have you had a chance to drive your car in the rain yet? Also looking forward to the snow updates- Farmer's Almanac thinks it's going to be a bad winner.

Can't speak for Tangent but this past Friday there was huge downpour here in Toronto. Was on the tolled highway going a good clip. Car was extremely stable and confident. If I was in my Genesis Coupe, I would have been white knuckle driving. Looking forward to the first snowfall!

We were driving through very heavy rain at 70 - 80 mph a couple of weeks ago. Too fast, but that's what traffic was doing and I'd have been a hazard trying to go slower. Car was EXTREMELY stable and all of the driver's assists worked well in the deluge. The blind-spot monitoring and the lane keeper were definitely there looking through the rain and keeping an eye on things flawlessly. Very confidence-inspiring.

Drove another 500 miles over the weekend and mentioned to my wife that the car feels "like it takes care of you". Silly, but that's the feeling you get because all of the assists work so well and so effortlessly. Plus the fact that it's just about the sweetest road car I've ever had. :)

Agreed. Now I'm pretty excited to switch to more seasonal dedicated tires. The all seasons that came with them are ok at best. Put on some summers with great wet traction or winters when it gets cold and this car is going to get even better.

I'm averaging 14.8l/100km. I guess I have a heavier foot than you.

My guess is you do a lot more city driving than me or have mega traffic every day to work which equates to the same ;)

Went to the boat this weekend which is 1 1/2 hour drive there and the same back. Averaged 9.4l/100km on cruise @ 122 kph. This translates to 25mpg doing 75mph which is more than respectable.

Are you using the on-board MPG display (or whatever you call it in Canada)? That is known to be overly optimistic and not accurate,

In the 1st gen. But i don't think we have much, if any accuracy data for the 2nd gen.

My 2g display is optimistic by 1.3-1.5 mpg consistently so now I just subtract 1.5 when I look at the display.
