  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Check out that tint!

Looks tight! Man one year can't go by soon enough.

Beautiful! I got my car tint done the same week I got the car.

5% tint? That means it filters out 95%, right? Is that legal where you're at? I can't tint beyond 32% in GA :(

Just waiting for my rear wing emblem to arrive before having mine tinted (and getting the emblem done at the same time). I'm hoping my black on black will accentuate the affect of the window tinting. Agree with markpoisson about the blending affect you get from the rear window to the back triangle section.

Getting Presidential 3M 35% tint next week. Pics coming.

He lives in VA, which means that he can have 35% VLT on rear glass, 35% on rear side windows, and 50% on front side windows, and nothing on windshield (except for strip at top of windshield which is factory tinted). I guess he has diplomatic immunity or something.

I have always tinted my windows as I please and never had any problems. (Knock on wood)

Must be nice! Good for you :)

I'm thinking of going with 3m crystalline this time with 70% VLT. The one thing I realized when I got in this new car is that I am kind of enjoying it being very light and letting all the light in my previous car blocked thanks to the tint. So after a bit of research I think I'll stick with crystalline 70, which still has 50 TSER. Also thinking of putting it on sunroof - I read somewhere here that sunroof is already tinted so well that lets little heat in, but I still felt the sunheat coming in last night being parked in the traffic on hwy on my way home :)

Yea the factory tint on sunroof does nothing to block heat I through a layer of clear ceramic over it now it's good.

During my Army time I never gave out an Article 15 punishment for illegal tint. However, I would make an exception in the case of a flagrant violator.

We call that toxic leadership so thank God your no longer in the Army.

P.S.
My commander and CSM both have 5% on there cars as well.

P.S.S.

It's time you stop fearing life and start living it!

Looks nice! I bet, the owner of E39 parked next to you car must be jealous now ...I know I would....only if I didn't have mine tinted already :D

Thanks bro!

down in pburg/PG county i guess your fine but up here north of richmond 5% tint or hell 35% and the right light will get you pulled..I had 25% tint on my wifes elantra and she would get pulled all the time..So just traded it in..now we have 35% on both cars

PS you need a suns-shading waiver from DMV in order to have 35% up front

Just picked up my 5.0 Ultimate today! Tint appointment Monday. Still haven't decided on the % (legal or illegal) anyone get 32% and wish that they had gotten it darker or vice versa?

Are you looking for looks, privacy, or heat rejection? Privacy on a tinted car is somewhat determined by the color of your interior (a lighter tint looks darker inside when interior is black). Normally, for best heat rejection and decent/good privacy, a high quality ceramic tint film is recommended, which will not fade or discolor. Formula One Pinnacle or equivalent is a good choice.

Carbon or dyed/smoked tint films are mainly for show, and not particularly good at heat rejection, which may be OK in moderate or cool climates. If you want a pimpmobile look, these are definitely the tint films to use. But make sure you get good quality tint film that is guaranteed not to fade or discolor.

Going to a shop now to install 3m crystalline all over - 40 in the back, 70 - front and sunroof and 90 windshield. YAY

Being that you are from Houston, I would go 40 everywhere except for 90 on windshield. That is perfectly legal in TX.
