  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone notice that this thing that's supposed to alert of the vehicles in blind spots doesn't always work? I'm still trying to figure out the pattern. Most of the time it shows the vehicle being in the blind spot. Sometimes I see a vehicle passing me on the left and the lights never lit up.

So far I can't say I can rely on it 100%. What's your experience with it?

Blind Spot Detection (BSD) is not active at speeds below 20 mph. Also, the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) is only active when you are in reverse and going slower than 6 mph, but also has limitations as detailed in the user manual:

"The RCTA detecting range is about 1 feet (0.5 m) ~ 65 feet (20 m). A vehicle will be detected if the vehicle speed is 2.5 mph (4 km/h) ~ 22 mph (36 km/h) within the detecting range. However, the detecting range may change under different conditions. Always pay attention to the surroundings."

Duh... Of course I meant BSD :) Good to know it's not active under 20mph - that's how fast I go on my commute home dammit! :)

I guess I'll need to read that manual eventually...

This is good information to know. Thanks for the post.

The problem I find is it works too good sometimes, like when you are turning in a two car lane and have your indicator on, if a car comes up in the other lane, the warning alarm goes off. Scared the hell out of me the first time!!

I have no problem with a beeping sound - keeps me more alert :)
