  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This Genesis Dealer really knows how to take care of a buyer. Other dealers should take note. Automotive News article.

that's freaking AWESOME.. i travel to nj often.. think i'll time my 7.5k service with a visit to that dealer

Wow !! They get to watch HD TV in the Equus/Genesis waiting room!! Who would have ever thought that customers would be treated to such luxury?

With more profit coming from the service side of dealer businesses, I'm actually surprised we don't see more pampering of customers this way everywhere. In fact, if money was spent where it is made by dealers, the showroom would be spartan and the finance office would have an IMAX set-up with gold plated desk.

I bought my 2015 Genesis from that dealer - it's much more than the TV: it's a much nicer waiting room and the level of service and "pampering" is noticeable versus that provided for those who buy the other Hyundai models there. Where did you buy your 2015?

This is the way is when I bring my Infiniti G in for service. Very comfortable waiting room with reclining easy chairs fresh bagels, custom coffee machine and very clean. Excellent service on the car. I don’t get that with the Genesis but I have to admit the actual vehicle service is very good and for me that’s the bottom line.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

I don't own a 2015 (not sure why model year matters). I guess you are saying I am pond scum because I only own a first generation Genesis and not a 2015? I don't think they make that distinction at that dealership based on model year.

I have only sat in a waiting room of a Hyundai dealer for a short time a couple of times, so I don't really care. The single waiting room for all customers had HDTV for everyone. The article seemed to make a big deal about the HDTV (which is the only kind of a TV I think you can buy these days).

It's all psychological. Sort of like first class on an airline. Yeah, the food is better in first class than in coach, but that doesn't mean anything because even first class food on an airline is not anywhere near as good as some crappy chain like Chili's or Longhorn or Outback. One time I got to fly International First Class from UK to USA (on a three-class AA flight). Yes, the food is even better on International First Class, but still crap by any objective restaurant standards. I do like the bigger seats, however.

I don't care what model year you own, but this is the 2015 Genesis Sedan forum after all and you seem to spend an awful lot of time here - so I assumed you owned one.

When I do need to sit at the dealer, I'll take a more private and comfortable environment anyday - not a big deal, but the little details all add up to make the experience more pleasant. I suspect most here would agree!

Your comments on 1st class lead me to believe you don't fly much - I fly alot for business and there is a HUGE difference between 1st class and coach, esp on long haul international routes - again, the sum of a lot of little details add up: better food, alcohol, amenities, comfort and much better service/attention!

There is nothing about the subject of this thread that suggests it is specifically dealing with 2015. Seems like a lot of new threads are getting created in the 2015 forum even if not specifically related to that model year. So I will take that as a "yes" that you do think I am pond scum for not owning a 2015. There are several people who have posted on genesisowners.com for 5 or more years who have never purchased any Genesis or Equus, and apparently have no plans on doing so.

When I flew International First Class, I had purchased a Business Class ticket but got upgraded to International First at no charge because they were over-booked in Business and I was AA Advantage Platinum, so I have flown quit a bit. Also, I did mention that the extra room on Business or First Class is very welcome, but the food still is way below what one would get in a decent restaurant. Hopefully you can understand what I saying.

Also, there is a big difference in time involved on a long airline flight and sitting in a waiting room for 30 min or so. If someone sat in the waiting room for several hours, then maybe it would make a difference, but I don't do that.

Think what you want, but it's quite the jump to interpret a question about where a frequent poster on a 2015 Genesis forum bought their 2015 Genesis as equating that person with pond scum - a little paranoid, are we? Geez!

You still seem not too get that, even if you only have to sit in a waiting room for a short time, it's still a much more pleasant/feel good experience to be in more plush surroundings with special attention/amenities provided to you - these little details all add up to make you feel better about the Genesis ownership experience. Just like flying first class is not just about food - it's about all the little extra details that improve the overall flight experience. Not sure why you want to argue about that?

The subject (and OP) in this thread has nothing to do with 2015 Genesis. Why is this an issue?

What I think you like is feeling superior to the shmucks who sit in coach, or sit in regular lounge at a dealership. It's all in the mind, IMO (unless you happen to spend a lot of time at a dealership waiting room, and I would kind of wonder what that is about). I feel good when I don't have to go to a dealership, and I strive toward that objective in my choice of cars.

This reminds me of when I had a used car in college years ago. I had transmission problems and took my car to an AAMCO Transmission shop. I was in the waiting room while they did a "free" inspection of my transmission. Their staff in the waiting room were swooning all over me, bringing me fresh doughnuts, coffee, soft drinks, etc, smiling and asking if there was anything they could get for me. I knew right them that I was about to get reamed on a transmission repair, so I got out as soon as I could.

Advice to Nikgen: Mark888 is a seemingly knowledgeable Genesis owner and has provided good advice on this Forum on many occasions, BUT he does like to stir the pot and get peoples backs up by making controversial comments from time to time. Not really sure why.;)

Of course the Dealership experience matters. Nobody chooses to spend time there while waiting for your car to be serviced, but it is nice when a dealer provides a pleasant environment in which to stay if you do have to be there. It has nothing to do with superiority or class, it just adds to the ownership experience when you are treated well. When Lexus introduced buyers to their interpretation of 'Customer Service' back in the early nineties, it re-set the Bar for dealership customer care. Everybody else has been playing catch-up ever since. I don't think that can be a bad thing.

I started out making fun of the comment in the article about HDTV in the waiting room. Everyone has HDTV these days (except maybe dirt poor freelance journalists). I don't think you can even buy a TV that is not HDTV unless it is very small. Then I was told by Nikgen that because I did not own a 2015 Genesis, I had no business posting in this thread, even though this thread has nothing specific to do with a 2015 Genesis, and applies to a waiting room for all Genesis/Equus owners.

Later, it became a little obvious to me that it is not just a matter of having a nice waiting room, but for some people to have a better waiting room than the schmuks who don't own a 2015 Genesis. In other words, if a Hyundai dealer had an incredibly nice waiting room (beyond what any car dealer has regardless of brand), that is not good enough for some people unless they can feel superior by have a better waiting room than the non-Genesis/Equus owners. I don't think I am imagining this or putting words in other people's mouth. I am all for nice waiting rooms, but don't really care that much about using them to make me feel superior to non-Genesis/Equus owners.

The dealership BETTER be pampering you- as it is the manufactures reason- that you are at the dealership - either routine or unexpected. A little comfort is the least any can do to provide while you wait taking time out of your day.

I thought EQUUS would pick up the vehicle and drop it off- they had a whole ad campaign about the buyer NEVER visiting the service department. (Not sure I'd want a 20 yr old grease monkey taking my pride and joy on an extended joyride).

You could not be more wrong! It's not about feeling superior to anyone - it's feeling good abut the money you spend and the level of service/attention you receive for that money. I expect the same quality of actual service from a dealer regardless of the price point of the car (fix it if it's broken), but if the dealer wants to make my experience even better by offering perks because I bought a more expensive luxury model, then why would I not take advantage of and enjoy that when needed. You sure don't understand brand marketing and consumers!

Please do show me where I told you that you had no business posting here - I merely asked where you bought your 2015 as you frequent posts in the 2015 GENESIS SEDAN forum, so I assumed you had one - that's all. Relax...you can post wherever you want...

This board will help effect if I buy a Genesis, so all should be welcome, owner or not. Although I do not currently own a Genesis, I will likely make the move as an previous owner of higher end cars and the quality of this board and the camaraderie is a huge plus. This board can benefit from opposing views and experiences from all types of car owners and will also have it's share of disputes as is found everywhere anonymous people gather.

I believe that the 2015 GENESIS SEDAN forum was started before anyone even purchased one, as there was a huge amount of discussion about what it be like when it became available.

And again you miss my point in asking the question - was just asking to understand what your dealer experience was given that you were poking fun at a nice and "new for 2015" customer amenity offered by the dealership I bought mine from...

I am the proud owner of a 2015 Genesis. I love everything about this car. Well after my BlueLink issues were resolved. From my experience Hyundai's dealerships in Pittsburgh are not all that great. Some share with other auto manufacturers. I've read that the New Genesis is considered a luxury car, but when I step into the service area and customer lounge, I think different. Not that I'm a snob or think that I deserve the best at all times, but I feel that if you worked hard to achieve a certain status, then I should be treated as such. I don't feel pampered at all, the TV lounge area is poor and dirty. Hyundai needs to step up their game if they really want to hang with the "Big Boys".
