  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had my first chance to try the remote start feature today as the car has been in the shop on and off for the last two weeks.

App on the phone said "Successful" but it didn't start. I checked the Bluelink menu and all the selections came back with "no service".

Called and the agent ran diagnostics from their end and confirmed there was a problem. She said she would need to advance the trouble report and they'd get back to me.

I asked about a time frame and she said it should be 5-7 days. I was a bit surprised at the length of time but she said that was their rule of thumb.

Anyone have Bluelink issues?

I hope it doesn't need to go back to the dealer and is just a network issue. I'm beginning to feel like I bought a 2011 Genesis 4.6 as this is what they give me for a loaner.

Curious - what's had your car in the shop so much?
...And, other than missing promised/advertised features, I find Bluelink works 99% of the time - every now and then I get a network fail and it doesn't start or a destination does not make it via the "Send to Genesis" feature.

Cosmetic issues took a week as they sent it out. Window tint took a couple of days.

Then vinyl on the front took a couple of days. Then that bubbled and had to be redone. Took a couple days.

Hopefully the bluelink issues won't require another visit. Agent said she'd never seen the trouble code before.

Why would you ask dealer to do a tint job? They just farm it out and mark up the price. I hope you got a good quality ceramic tint film.

I don't see where he said the dealer did the tint job? He just said the car was in and out if the "shop" for a number of things - he only specifically referred to the dealer in the context of the Blue Link issue.

You may be correct, but he said:

"Cosmetic issues took a week as they sent it out. Window tint took a couple of days."
He also said he had a loaner from dealer, and sounded like that was during the tint job also.

I have had a number of tint jobs done over the years at independent shops, and never took more than half a day. The real problem I have with it being outsourced is not price (although one "may" pay more), it is lack of control and understanding of the exact tint film being used. There is a big difference in tint films, especially for someone living in Tampa Bay area. In my experience, most dealers do an inexpensive smoke or carbon tint, which looks nice, but does a mediocre job of rejecting solar energy.

Actually, they did do the tint. I've had Llumar Ceramic put on in the past and I was going to go that route again.

Dealer didn't farm it out as I met with the tint guy who did the work. He also did the vinyl on the front. The problem the vinyl was all the material he had was the end of a roll. There was a chance it might be OK but it turned out it wasn't. They ordered more of the 3M stuff and this time around its looks great. That saved me a ton of money as an outside installer I called wanted $900 to do the front and the backs of the mirrors.

I think I mentioned that the sales manager at the dealership was a personal friend. After we'd worked out the numbers I mentioned that I was going to get Llumar again and he asked to let them do it. I said that if it didn't work as well as the Llumar it would need to come off. The Llumar would have been around $500 so I let them do the tint, here in Florida its an absolute necessity.

No tint on the windshield, lighter on the front sides, a little darker on the back sides and rear. Its fine. No problems seeing out at night. A friend and I went out to lunch the other day, he wanted to check out the car. It was 94 degrees and we parked in the sun. After getting back in the car after an hour or so he remarked at how cool the interior was, and I agreed. I'm happy with it and saved $500. Is Llumar a bit better? I think so. But I don't see this as a big compromise and it looks great with the red. The Llumar wouldn't have looked as good.

On occasion I have the Bluelink say it was successful but the car was not started.

Here are the emailed errors I get when that happens:

"Your request for Remote Services cannot be processed at this time. Please try again at a later time. If the issue persists please call 1-855-2BlueLink."

"Remote service is currently unavailable. Your request for REMOTE START on 09/25/2014 11:58 am US/Eastern was not processed. Please try again later."

I have found that if I check my email and see the above errors, if I simply try it again 9 times out of 10 it works the second time around. I think it is just a connection error similar to when your computer doesn't connect.

Thanks, I'm going to try it again later today.

I had issues with the BlueLink System when I first purchased my car. I worked with the service department and customer service for 4 weeks. The end result is that the head unit had to be replaced. Once that was replaced everything worked as it should have. Now, I have no complaints and I like the system.

I haven't heard back from Bluelink as yet but I tried it again and the Bluelink features in the car worked.

The car still won't remote start, though. Locked, more than 15' away and the app says "success" but no start and an email with an error message comes through a few minutes later. Also, no remote door unlocking. The car does seem to activate wifi, though. I have no idea how or even if these features are interconnected.

Sounds like even when they get it working it won't be 100% reliable. GM's OnStar I found to be very reliable, same with Mercedes. I don't have any experience with any others.

This is an area where Hyundai falls short of true luxury car status. At this point a feature like Bluelink should not have glitches.

I really like the car itself but there are just too many "gotchas" in the whole process. I expect after a few months everything will have been ironed out but with everything included the list price was over $60K and there have been too many issues to deal with.

jimb100, I totally understand your frustration. One would expect for a car at the price everything would be functioning properly. I was so disgusted with Hyundai's customer service and the service center where I purchased the car. I kept getting the run around and no straight answers. They will eventually get it together.

Got a call from the Bluelink folks today. The good news, everything is now working.

The agent told me they needed to 'reprovision' my account. At that point, still didn't work. They then suggested I delete and reload the app.

Then the newly loaded app wouldn't recognize my password. I then went to the web site and logged on. After that the app let me log on and remote start worked fine.

All's well that ends well but it was a bit frustrating.

Glad you got it working. Just as a side note, I take the "success" message to refer to your phone sending out the command, especially with the delay between success and actual startup. I think that's further evidenced by the super unreliable vehicle status function which requires a response from the vehicle.

I experienced about a 1 minute delay between the app showing "success" and the car actually starting. Stop seemed to be faster but I'm just happy to see it working without further ado.

I have my 2015 AWD Ultimate about a month, love the car! Blue Link sort of works 😕 F'ind my car seems to rely on my phone's location services (odd) and Vehicle Status always unavailable. I even got an out of range error standing 10 feet from the car!

I emailed support from the Genesis app and a response the next day said they'd have to forward my query to the Genesis department! 😨

At least remote start works, and the send POI function does too...

I've found the only issues to be with the app on my personal and work phone. For vehicle status, you sometimes have to hit it twice to actually refresh and load the data from the car.

** UPDATE ** My Genesis Blue Link app for Android just updated! Problems seem to all have been fixed! 😀

Their customer service is terrible i've been in contact with them over the past two months with my Blue Link not working they tell me they'll call me back within 3 to 5 business days I don't hear from anyone from two weeks so I call back and they ask for more information and tell me again they will call me back three to five business days again no call back. I finally took it to higher up and they set a time to call me at 2 p.m. on a Friday and nobody called me back I had to email them Monday in a frustrated email to get a call back and then the only thing the person did was make excuses.. I have bluelink free for the first three years but I'm so disgusted with it not even using it now and wont be paying to keep. I'm having external remote starter added next week
