  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone seen a prototype or heard of any rumors for the next Equus?

The 2014 is 7 months old.
Why do you ask about 2016?
For one thing, if you're in the market to buy a Hyundai Equus, it would be nice to know if the one you're about to buy will be the old style in a year. Also, knowing what's coming might make one wait for what will really make the person happy. I, for one, am very curious about the next Hyundai Equus...

Yea, I have a 2011 with only 22,000 miles on it and i am very curious on what the next equus will look like. I will then determine if the trade will be worth it.

Agree. IIRC, we've been talking about the 2nd generation Genesis for some time. It would be good to know if Hyundai has plans for a major Equus update, as well.

Don't know if there's any truth to this or not, but my local service manager said the new, AWD version should be out in a couple years. We'll see.

A couple of years sounds about right. I have a feeling it's going to be a pretty big change inside and out. Maybe not drivertrain-wise but appearance and feature-wise...

I had the 2011 and I consider the changes to the 2014 significant. More sophisticated wheels, Snow Mode, classier interior, and more. This was a great refresh, not sure why anybody in a 2011 would be asking about 2016 and ignoring this.
Whatever.

I love what they did to the 2014 but as far as the body style itself between the 2011 and 2014 , well its pretty much the same. I was asking about it because i am very interested in seeing what they will do with the complete make-over..given the fact they they did a awesome job with the new genesis. SO yes i will hold out until a complete refresh.

John Krafcik said before he left HMA, that the next gen Equus will be available with all wheel drive. As far as styling Peter Schreyer will oversee the next design, which he had no input on the new Genesis. Which will be interesting because he wants Hyundai and Kia to have two different styling in the future.

Don't expect an all-new Equus until the 2017 model year, likely due out in the Spring of 2016. I was told of a "6-year" cycle at a car show last year. So expect 3 years of the current "refurbished" Equus ... 2014,15,16 ... then the next generation shortly thereafter.

What does that mean? Hyundai and Kia have always had different styling, given the limitation that they share a lot of technology and components. Hyundai only owns about 1/3 of Kia and does not control their styling and marketing, beyond the technology sharing agreements they have.

You have not been keeping up on Hyundai/Kia corporate news over the past 2 years.

^^ thanks.

^ thanks. And yuch... A stretched Genny? Step backwards.

Yeup, i said the same thing but i doubt that it will look exactly like the Genny. I'm quite sure they will have minor differences but again whats the use of having an equus if it looks just like a genny. NONE AT ALL. Im hoping that they are just using that as a testing platform so that we wont see the actual model. Im excited and nervous at the same time.
Hyundai Please Dont Let us Down!

Maybe, but I am not sure what else an Equus could have that a Genesis Ultimate does not already have (except for longer wheelbase, rear-seat info-tainment, etc). Offering an L version of the Genesis would be in line with what BMW 7 series, and Lexus LS offer in addition to their shorter wheel base models.
