  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

WOWZER, a free Nav upgrade!

No free update for 2012 R-Spec. Still running the original map that was on it.

That's weird. I took my 2012 R-Spec in this morning for my routine oil change and when the service rep pulled up my car on the system computer a recall notice popped up on her screen. She said it was the map update p17.
Said it would take half a day so I got a loaner and went off to work. Got a call at 4pm and was told that everything was done and I could pick my car up in the morning.

She also said that the touchscreen systems only takes 1.5 hours. The R-spec takes a lot longer.

This upgrade brings my '12 Genesis Nav much closer to the Nav in my '14 Santa Fe Sport. Color me happy.
Just had the P17 campaign done on my new-to-me 2012 CPO Premium. Owning a 2014 Santa Fe as well, I agree this is much closer to the current software than what I had.

I was hopeful that it would add Speed Limit info; that's a feature I really like in the Santa Fe. Am I just missing it somewhere?

I haven't found any speed limit info in the P 17 upgrade. It would be nice if the P 17 upgrade came with a manual, or at least a link to a website with an on-line manual. An online manual probably exists. Has anyone located it?

One of my favorite features of the P 17 upgrade is the touch-button phone favorites list. Also, I mentioned previously that the formerly bright white screen
has been softened a bit in color. Initially, I thought that was a good thing. However, I find that the screen is now a bit too dim when wearing sunglasses. My '14 Santa Fe Sport does not have that same problem.

The good news is that I found out , the Apples CarPlay will
be available to Genesis too as software update

It's already there. You have to hold down the voice command button on the steering wheel. It will skip hyundai's shitty equivalent and use apple's. I have android and hyundai was too lazy to support it so it tells me to connect an iphone :\ I just use ok google thru my phone's mic and avoid the infotainment system all together

You mean that I can use Siri to ask to make a phone call, or read my last email or text message?
If it's that, then I use it already, the same way you described, by holding down the voice command button little longer , after Hyundai infotainment system, Siri takes over, I guess for Android OK Google does the same
But I was thinking about the whole CarPlay that you can see app icons on display screen and use them as in phone.
And there are more options as it now just using OK Google or Siri.

When I went in they told me there were no map updates when they looked up my VIN (because I asked about it). Service advisor said that it was for tech package only that he'd seen and not R-Specs. Mine is still running the original map from 2011.

The map upgrade was called a P-17 Campaign. My car with Premium package (touchscreen) was eligible. Your service advisor was wrong. In any case, the upgrade window has closed now.

My advisor told me no update available for the 2012 Equus when I took it in last October. But I was promised one when it became available. The mnsoft website shows one available....so it's time to take it in again! I never received a card in the mail.

I guess SW is a secret code.

SW is most likely an abbreviation for SoftWare. Otherwise, IDK.... ;-)

'12 R Spec here. Got a card in the mail some time back about the P17 upgrade. Dropped the car of for the day to get the upgrade/update and oil change.

Dealer said it took over 4 hours to do the update. I haven't really looked at it all but some things are different. Haven't driven the car much since then or needed to use the nav. I usually know where I'm going. ;)

That is correct the navi update take 4 hrs to update.

The v8 update took 1 hour on my 2013 R-Spec. The update maps and software came on a USB stick that plugs into the USB port in the center console compartment. My upgrade was not free, I purchased from MnSoft.
