If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hello

I went to my car today and visually check as I usually do and noticed that the chrome insert had a crack in it. Nice crack in it.
Not sure how it happen. If so how would you repair it? Would I have to go to dealer and get a new bumper?

See pic please

chrome strip 2012-14, outer Right

~$25

There are YouTube videos on how to replace the door strips. The bumper strips are probably the same.
.

Many thanks to everyone! I will give this a try hopefully with a better quality one.

This happened to my left front bumper insert. I actually don't really care for the chrome and was wondering if the panel underneath is painted the same as the body. Any idea?

Ambush, I am curious to see if you followed through and tried to replace your rear chrome strip. I have received mine but it does not have the same clip system as the side strips, and I have not found any information pertaining to installing rear strips.

I had a wrinkle in mine. The dealer replaced it for free under warranty

Unfortunately no I have not completed this task.
The whole bumper clear coat is peeling so I am a little well ALOT peeved about it. The dealership will not do anything about it even though I have PLAT. EXTENDED WRAP warranty. What a #$@#$ waste of money.

UGUHG!

I think it is going to be a more complicated DIY than for the door trim. Now I am stuck with the new chrome strip and shopping around for quotes. One shop asked $200 to replace the part. I'll see if the Hyundai dealer would do it when I stop by on Thursday.

I have this same issue and was not happy when HyundaiUSA said they would do nothing about it. I have the same year and color as yours.

I wonder how many more people have this same issue.

I am having the same issue with my Gen. Although mine was caused by someone bumping me in a parking garage... Would anybody be able to post a picture of the new chrome strip. Specifically the back of it. I would love to get an idea of how it is fastened to bumper. Many thanks in advance!

It is screwed to the bumper. Had to take it to the shop. It was a good 1h-1h30 job. Luckily they did it for free, but they had to remove the bumper from what I understand. This is the one I purchased for my 2012 rspec. http://www.ebay.com/itm/181676960059?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I am having the same clear coat peeling issue on my 2012 White Genesis. And with the extended warranty, I was also told there was nothing they could do.

The chrome strip is attached to the outer molding with 8 small screws, see posted photos, sorry I don't have the picture for the chrome strip. The outer molding is snapped on to the bumper cover and secured with 4 nuts. It's no need to remove the whole bumper cover to replace the chrome strip, just remove the rear combination lamp, some fasteners/ screws/ nut or bolts, pull the corner of the bumper cover off and get inside to remove 4 nuts that secured the outer molding. Hope this will help!

I am sorry I have not had time to update.
Someone decided to hit my car while I was inside a store. Guess where they hit it?
On the side where the the insert was cracked!! Not only did the barbershop fix the insert, the resprayed the entire bumper!!! NEW CLEAR and everything! Perfect. It looks like it came from showroom.
Only cost me $100 for my deductible.

Now to order clear bumper/paint protection!

:)

Wow, your barbershop sprays autos, as well as heads!
