  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Made the executive decision to let Blue Link and Sirius lapse and see if I could get discounts. Got the good deal that's around for Sirius but have found NOTHING for Blue Link.

I think I'm gonna rejoin, so wondering: anyone found ANY Blue Link discounts?

And yes I've spoken with dealers and Blue Link itself; no go.

Thanks to all,

Alley

I'm a little lost as to what benefit bluelink provides. I just started my 3mo trial, but not once during my first 6 months of ownership did i wish i had it. Prior to setting up the trial i could already use the search button on the mirror and that was the only function i found useful.

The basic subscription provides automatic crash notification.

I just paid $99 to keep the guidance package. The button on the mirror is great. The Blue Link voice recognition works much better than the NAV voice recogition. Using Blue Link I just say the name of the business and voila. The address pops up on the screen. If you are looking for a chain i.e Target you will get a list of the different Target stores nearby. You can activate navigation or you can push the "call" button to call the business. It's like a directory assistance.

I may go back and add the remote package soon. My thought is I have a new car I should have all the features available at least the first year.

Confused a bit about the Guidance costing $99? When I went to sign up they told me that to have the Guidance I ALSO had to get the Connected Care FOR WHICH THERE IS ALSO A CHARGE?

Did they let you only pay $99, period?

BlueLink wasn't available on my 2012, but with Waze on my smartphone on my windshield, I do all that regularly, and don't miss the BlueLink.

Telematics are already active, so you can always negotiate the price. Got an offer on the Santa Fe for 50% off the remote package. They'd much rather have a customer at half off than no customer at all :)

You are correct. You must have the Connected Care package to purchase either the Guidance or Remote packages. Since Connected Care is free for the first year I only had to pay for the guidance package.

I'm guessing they will discount the Genesis Blue Link packages before too long. I was not able to get a discount this time. When my current subscriptions expire next year I will get a discount or live without them.

I'm glad Allisondbl started this thread. Hope somebody else finds a way to get a discount. FYI there is a 10% discount if you sign up for two years but I don't consider that a bargain.

But not as conveniently from you steer wheeling or DIS controls... you miss out on the beauty of the control integration of the Genesis on-board systems (hoping we get Apple Carplay as an upgrade and they eventually support Waze - though doubtful as it's Google-owned).

Let's see, I can scroll thru names one letter at a time, madly spinning the DIS knob, to access a now several year old database, or I can press the little google microphone, and say the name of where I want to go, with execellent voice recognition and very good guesses as to what I was *really* trying to say. Yep, I miss out all right....

The only feature i enjoy is the search button on the mirror, but i could use that before blue link even knew who i was. The remote features are downright maddening. It is the most ill-conceived remote starting system I've ever encountered. Remotely started yesterday, was walking by the car to take out trash so i reached in to turn on the heated seats. When i closed the door the car shut off. Really!? WTF?

Midnightsun, i couldn't disagree more with your stance on heated car vs heated seat. I've let the car warm for 5+ minutes the last 2 days and the seat is still COLD when i get in.

Or you could press the button on the mirror and say the name of where you want to go, with excellent voice recognition and very good guesses as to what you are *really* trying to say, powered by Google search - so it's up to date! And you can use your DIS controls to scroll through route options, call the destination, etc., - you have less options for control, but if you like Waze, then your smartphone mounted somewhere is your only option for now.

you can make the heated seats turn on automatically, I did. But it requires some wiring. I discussed the details in another thread. I really like the automatic heated/cooled seats in my Genesis.

Sorry, not on my 2012 Tech model. The only thing the buttons on my mirror do is open the garage door.

Sorry - missed the 2012 model part. The 2015 Bluelink and Google search integration is very nice. I love that I can use the phone app or web app to find a location and then send it to the car - when you subsequently start the car it alerts you that a new destination was received and asks if you want to go there via the Nav. Very useful (and cool).

Right! I forgot that that package was free for first YEAR v. 3 months of others. Thanks!

FWIW - I received an email from Hyundai earlier discounting the Remote Package by $35 bucks. I let both the remote and the guidance package lapse after the three month time period because of how finicky the remote start was and how clunky the guidance could be. Hoping it's better now and I'm willing to waste $65 to find out.

As far as timing, my Remote and Guidance packages expired right at six months ago. Perhaps if everyone waits they'll get the discount on the remote?
