Only particpate in this poll if you have owned your Genesis for more than 2 years. I would not expect a Genesis to have problems in the first couple months of ownership.

There seems to be a lot discrepancy on this forum on the reliability of the Genesis. I own 2 of them and both have been Flawless. Others describe many problems. We need to get some real Numbers.

2009 4.6 Tech - purchased used in 2011, sold in 2014. All issues fixed under warranty:

• Steering limit switch (both replaced, 2011)
• seat limit switch (front back switch replaced, 2012)
• seat limit switch & motor (seat bottom rear tilt replaced, 2014)
• Brake fluid recall update to DOT4 (fixed 2013?)
• HECU (ABS) module replacement due to failure (fixed 2012)
• rough start engine misfire (dealer checked, no damage, 2011)
• hood alarm actuator button missing caused dead battery(replaced 2011)
• rear passenger door lock actuator failed (replaced 2011)
• stereo amp silence bug (happened maybe a half dozen times in 3 yrs, no action taken)

8 warranty fixes in a little over 3 years and the silent amp bug. For some that might seem a lot, but for me it really wasn't because of a really good dealer experience. Never paid a dime for anything, and dealer gave me brand new Genesis loaners 3 times when the car needed to stay overnight.

I bought the extended warranty for the 2009 but never had to use it. I sold the 2009 earlier this year at 53k miles and bought my 2012 4.6. So far the 2012 has been flawless.

Purchased September 2011 R-Spec 2012 model:

-SCC module replacement
-Backup camera replacement
-Driver's seat cushion

No other problems - no oil burning.

2009 4.6 Tech 50k miles, purchased Nov 2008 other than maintenance and all usual TSBs, it has been flawless.

2013 R-Spec, 8k miles, purchased Apr 2014, NAV head unit replaced back in August 14.

What is the purpose of this unscientific poll? If you want accurate information conducted by reputable company using statistically valid sampling methods, then I would suggest looking at Consumer Reports yearly issue on this subject.

Also, the categories are too narrow and don't consider all possible experiences. Consider the following choices:

• A few very minor issues that have been fixed promptly
• Over 4 problems, some major that have now been fixed.
• To many problems to count and some still remain.

What happens if one has had "a few very minor issues," but they were not all fixed promptly? Or if one had "Over 4 problems" (but less than "too many") and some problems have not been fixed yet?

Polling and statistics is a scientific endeavor, best left to professionals IMO.

I have already chosen not to participate. But in fairness, your poll is not much different than other similar polls on many other websites, but they are still flawed. The problem is that two concepts are included, one is how many problems and the other is how quickly the were fixed (or whether still not fixed). These two concepts have nothing to do with each other.

Also, the thing is, since Consumer Reports has a scientific poll, and a large sample size, I don't see what the purpose is. My Genesis has been fairly reliable (except for HECU brake problem which is still looming since Hyundai refuses to replace it before it fails). However, other people have indeed had a lot more problems than me, and I don't think they are lying, nor does it make me feel insecure about owning a Genesis.

I'm the original owner of a 2009 Genesis 3.8 Premium which was purchased in July 2009. This is a very low mileage car and I only rolled over 25,000 miles several weeks ago.

I can say that there's not been one problem with my car. The only action I took was to replace the Dunlop tires at 15,000 miles with Continentals which improved the ride.

A long time Cadillac owner, I am very happy with my Genesis. It was always my practice to trade cars in three years, but now in my 60's I'm no longer sensitive to driving the "newest" model. Since I'm only putting @ 5,000 miles a year on the car I do plan to keep it for several more years.

When it does come time to trade, I would definitely purchase another Hyundai vehicle.

subwoofer - replaced
nav system - replaced
front suspension unable to do alignment within specs - replaced
sunroof track broken - no warranty waiting for spring

'12 R spec bought new in Nov of '11.

Very minor issues. Seat rack squeaking so they replaced. Stereo lock up/not staying in Surround sound. Fixed with updated S/W. A/C clutch froze up, replaced. About 45K miles on it now.

The only things I've had to go to the dealer for is a CD player that stopped working. They hooked up a test instrument and rebooted it.

I did complain about a ratty, rusty looking door sill trim piece (the one that is chrome and says Genesis on it) on the front passenger door when I was having an oil change. Driver's side showed only normal wear. The dealer promptly ordered a new one and installed it.

Only the stretching, which I think most people have experienced. The new cushion looked just like the old one after a few weeks. However there have been so many good things about this car that I have learned to overlook it.

This has been a great poll and thread. It affirms what I generally thought about these cars-- that they are pretty well made. My casual observation is that problems tend to be all or nothing. Someone who has a problem with electronics has multiple systems and unpredictable sporadic behavior; otherwise, it is glass.

Agreed. There seem to be a few 'Lemons' that have multiple problems, but the overwhelming majority are pretty reliable. My Genesis have been the most reliable cars I've owned over the last 30 years. Which includes 3 Honda Accords, Nissan Maxima, Lexus ES300, GS300 and GS350.
