  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Uniq Performance Rigid Collars

Did you end up getting a set for the wifes car :)

Got it installed today, here are my initial impression of this mod for the 2009 4.6 (47k miles);

1 - Not much difference on road imperfections, but this may be due to the decent tires I have on this car.
2 - Noticeable difference on larger bumps with less bounciness.
3 - Tighter steering feel with less road transfer to the cabin.
4 - Body lean while cornering is much improved.
5 - ESC intervention is much more controlled, better body control in both acceleration and breaking.

Conclusion: the upgrade had lesser of impact than the R-Spec, but to me it is a significant improvement to the chassis firmness and therefore worth every penny for both cars.

Few additional comments I thought I would add after driving the Mrs. Geny over the weekend, which I have missed from my initial assessment:

This upgrade appears to improve the slight understeer present in the 2009 4.6.

By the same token, this mod corrects the oversteer present in the R-Spec when pushed hard into a corner.

I.e. Both cars now follow a predictable path while turning into a corner, with a planted wheel feedback, without having to make constant adjustments to the throttle position or make steering corrections for any given maneuver, which in my opinion is another plus, that provides additional composure to G1 chassis...

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
would this fit the equus by any chance?

would this fit the equus by any chance?

I can't confirm for sure, but I would think it would since the Equus is based of the Genesis chassis. The collar kit for the Genesis has 10 collars so if the Equus has 10 subframe bolts they probably are a match.

I would say the same the it shares the same platform as the sedan

Finally had the time to drop off the Genny for the install and alignment, just picked it up and it just feels tighter, I like it.
Now to go for an extended drive..........

Where in Austin did u get yours installed? I just got some and need to have them installed.

Auto Tek on Gillis St, ask for Aaron.

They aren't the cheapest but they do good work.

What type of shop would install these? I just don't have the tools.

Post #57 in this thread should get you started... ;)

I have not purchased yet. Was just making sure shops did it. I'll post when I do

We had a last minute change of plan and decided to spend Xmas day in NY, so we flipped a coin on which car we should drive up there, the 4.6 won. So we started at 7:30am from ATL and got here at around 7pm with 3 short stops..

Other than missing lane departure and the adaptive cruise control, I really can not get over how well the 6 year, 50k miles, 4.6 Genesis did,!? We got here in remarkably short time, had dinner and I am still do not feel tired one bit!!!

I have done one other 'long' trip (ATL to Miami) couple of years back with the 4.6, but this time we felt even less tired than that trip, even though this journey was around 150 more miles!!

Rigit collar is the only change I had done between the two trips (still same tire set)...

I just thought I would share....

Haven't been on the forum for quit some time but you all are surely convincing my that these things are the way to go for my 2010 4.6 tech car. My biggest complaint with the car is the steering wheel shimmy on roads lined with imperfections or holes. I noticed a huge difference when I replaced those awful stock conti's with bridgestones but still get that steering wheel back and forth shake on some poor road. So my question is are you truly saying these collars will eliminate them

Ordered one for my 2009. Arrived this afternoon. Will try to figure out when I will be installing them.
