  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just got back from visiting family at Christmas time. We got a rental 2014Avalon that was not top of the line, but did have leather, heated seats and blue tooth. It got better milage than the R-spec, around 30 mpg, but this also was I believe a 6 cyl, it didn't sound like a 4 cyl and had some pep to it. It was not nearly as quite as the Genesis and seemed a bit cheap on the inside, I was so glad to get back in my Genny. I was at one time thinking of the Avalon, sure glad I didn't.

Agree....really no comparison. I'd compare the Genesis to the Audi A6, Lexus GS350, BMW 5 Series or Mercedes E350.

In my Opinion the Styling of the 1st Generation Genesis is unsurpassed by anything on the road as far as Luxury 4 door Sedans. The Grill is the only thing 'hurting' on the 2nd Generation Genesis.

^ +1,000,000

^+2 on everything......
And to a lesser degree, the 10% weight gain!!! (at least between 5.0 Ultimate and the R-Spec).

+1

I still have problems with the front grill.
As for the rest: 2015 is clearly a better car, positioning Genesis very well when compared with the top of the line german/japanese sedans.

FWIW, I really like the grille - of course, others may have a different opinion. :)

The Avalon and the Hyundai Azera compete against each other, along with the Lexus ES.
The Genesis might be a half-step behind the Lexus GS.

My neighbour has a beautiful Lexus GS. Top quality, outstanding interior, etc.
But it seems to be the size of the C-350. (and much smaller than my Gen 2012)

I read some confusing comparisons between Lexus GS and ES.
Some tend to position the ES better, despite the much lower price and front wheel drive. One labels the GS as sportier and the ES as a very silent and comfortable car.

I think Genesis should be compared to Lexus LS, and not GS or ES. But it's just my opinion.

The Equus competes with the LS, the Genesis is more of a drivers car and less of a chauffers car.

The Avalon is a nice car and all but it's more of an old people cruiser with its FWD layout, plush ride, and complete lack of handling dynamics.
The brand new one looks like a giant Camery too, which I find odd.

All Avalon's are V-6's.

Super ugly front grilles on the New Lexus which I see is now being incorporated into the new Toyota line-up.

I prefer the styling of the 1st generation Genny, but over some time, may get used to the new 2015 grille. I thing the 2012 is still the best looking of the line up. I also don't love the trunk and rear end of the 2015 as well.

Waiting for my local dealer to get a new one in stock.

Same perception here. Everything is fantastic in the 2015 but the front grille. Of course this is personal. And, of course, I WOULD buy a 2015 given the huge improvements.
