I don't know whether (not weather) it is the OEM tires, but I find it amazing that some with AWD still have to put on snow tires, and can't get by with all-season tires. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about snow tires or AWD.
AWD does not compensate for the way summer and all season tires harden in cold temps. Nor do those tires have the tread to split the snow.
Snow, ice and cold temps - AWD with all seasons are ok. AWD with winter tires are superior in every way. What's a set of winters compared to peace of mind, no white knuckle driving and a small discount on your insurance?
