Alignment Problem

Bought a new 2014 Genesis 3.8 sedan back in Nov. During the test drive, I noticed the car pulled to the left. Said something and they checked the alignment and said one of the rear wheels was out of alignment and all was well. Only have 2500 miles from around town. Took a 100 mile trip on the interstate this week. It was horrible. Not once could I relax my hand on the wheel. The dealer says it's the roads. Last two cars were Ford Taurus's and never had this issue. They were comfortable to drive. I feel I have to "drive" this car.

Anyone with a similar experience ?

Suggestions on how to elevate to Hyundai ?

Manufacturer defect in a tire can cause a pull. Have the tires swapped side to side and then drive to find out if it pulls the other way. Here is a link that should help. http://www.aa1car.com/library/tires2.htm

Mine seems to pull to the right and it's very tiring after a while. I have not checked the alignment tho.

A number of complaints just like yours, most seem unresolved. Mine pulls to the left badly on crowned roads. I've done all the rotations, alignments, road force balancing, etc... seems to me like a suspension geometry defect, but it is what it is. Dealer has tried their best, but seems like its not going to go away.

Does it act the same with different brand of tires? I had three bad tires in one set which made the cause of the problem difficult to find.

Your warranty book details how to escalate your complaint to Hyundai. First, though, sit on your dealer (Svc Mgr and GM).

Oddly enough, most alignment techs won't set the tire pressure. Sometimes it's that simple, particularly in cold weather. All tires leak air, some to a greater degree than others. Check your pressure.

Drove a Genesis yesterday for the first time as a rental, National I think. Engine nice, steering responsive, lot of tire noise (OEM tires usually poor). I wasn't impressed with the ride, actually harsh over bumps, not what I had expected from a 4000 lb+ vehicle.

My 2012 R Spec has a significant pull to the right. Dealer said that the vehicle is aligned with Hyundai specifications. Had the tires rotated and balanced and this did not help. I went to an independent body shop that measured the caster and said that the left front wheel is 1/2 in. farther to the front than that of the right front wheel. Anyone heard of this ? The Hyundai service advisor (a master tech) said that he could get the car the quit doing this, but it would involve moving and adjusting suspension parts at my expense.

If 1/2" is true then that is a mfg. defect and hyundai must make it right period. Take the car to another dealer and another indie shop to document the defect or you may find out someone was blowing smoke.

I have a 2013 with a 3.8 and have the same problem. While traveling on a freeway if I stay in the right lane the steering is neutral. If I go in center or left lane the car pulls to the left. I also noticed that my steering wheel is not on perfectly strait. My car came with 18" Michelin's and dealer tried rotating tires to no avail. He realigned the car, also to no avail. He said something must be up with tires. Well, I bought 4 brand new wheels and 4 Blizzak snow tires, same problem. Something is not right.

Now to add fuel to the fire my wife had a 2011 Genesis 3.8 and we had same issue in the beginning. Got tired of complaining to my dealer. Turns out my neighbor owns a Ford dealer and suggested that one of his techs might be able to solve the problem. So took it to the Ford dealer, they realigned and problem solved.

Bottom line it looks like I need to take my 2013 to the Ford dealer as it appears two of my Hyundai dealers do not know how to properly align a Genesis.

Never buy a vehicle that initially has something wrong. Dealers must present you with a 100% functioning car on the first test drive. That is why you go to new car dealers.....for cars that are new & 100% functioning. My test drive with my car had exquisite alignment from the factory & EVERYTHING was wonderful. With follow up oil changes & examinations by the dealer, I ALWAYS voiced my total satisfaction with the car, MAKING SURE THE DEALER DID NOTHING TO "ENHANCE" THE CAR. Fortunately, my dealer agreed with me, even passing up the "opportunity" to rotate the tires twice or adjust my tire pressures from the 39psi I had set them at. At 25,000 miles my tires have excellent wear, steering continues immaculately, & the Elantra is OVERALL AVERAGING 39+mpg, with 15% city driving......no hybrid, diesel or turbo involved.
Yeah, it appears obvious, but start with a 100% wonderfully functioning car on the first test drive. Do NOT let the new car dealer "correct" any problems. Initial problems during the test drive, already indicate that the dealer is "one or two factors (more?)" below its duty as a new car dealer. Try another car & better yet, see another new car dealer.

+1. I had to have a independent shop who also does advanced resto-mods, frame up rebuilds and race cars alignment, do mine. They confirmed that it was out of whack likely from the boat trip over. They had to do what your Hyundai master tech said. It took hours. Has driven perfect for 30k miles since. Cross rotate tires, put on Blizzaks for winter, tracks real nice. They added more positive caster also yuan spec in front. They had to work on both the front and rear suspension.

Rip off American Hyundai district management and USA HQ could care less. Thought I was nuts. Would not pay a dime. They are mental midgets many times. And think the customer is a wrestling enemy to tussle with. You know the saying SHFT rolls down hill, in this case Korea.

As I said in an earlier post I had the same issue and aligning the car did not fix it.
Yesterday I took it to my dealer and explained in great detail what it was doing and another alignment is not going to fix it.
He said he would put his top guy on it. Well, guess what, the whole from sub-frame cradle was never installed correctly at the factory. It was a half inch further to the right than it was supposed to be causing the rear wheels to want to overtake the front ones. So they drove it on some kind of machine that checks the frame for alignment. To fix it they loosened the whole sub-frame cradle, engine and all and moved it to its proper position. They then re-aligned the car and my problem is finally solved. Car now drives fantastic and I can steer the car without it wanting to pull to the left. It now feels like a car should.

Now that is a thorough diagnostic and problem solved. I think it shows how a well trained tech does not assume anything, like assuming the car was put together correctly at the factory. Congrats on finding someone that solved your problem.

I had a issue where my car pulled to the right constantly. After multiple visits to the dealership. I logged a complaint with Hyundai corp. The complaint got sent to service manager and senior tech.
After keeping my car overnight, i was told that they had to go out on a Hyundai engineering site to find a backdoor to some settings that allowed them to adjust the car where it wouldn't pull. it doesn't pull to the right anymore but I'm keeping a close eye on my tires to see if they have uneven ware. I really don't trust or have any confidence in Hyundai service departments..
