I was just told that the 2015 5.0 Ultimate is discontinued by a salesman in Arizona (Scottsdale Chapman). I'm assuming this is BS based on how pushy the guy has been already, but has anyone heard anything?
Fwiw my dealer told me 5.0's were hard to sell and considering they sold me one for about 19% off sticker without any incentives tends to make me believe him.

I was at the Cleveland Auto Show on Saturday and they had two Gennys on display. One of them was the 5.0 Ultimate. If the 5.0 Ultimate had not been available when I bought mine, I would have bought a something different as in another brand and not Hyundai.
The Mercedes has only 195 hp but massive torque (369 ft/lbs) and will scoot it along with similar acceleration to the V6 Genesis
I doubt that....
I really hope they did discontinue it. My AWD 5.0 would become priceless with only a couple of hundred ever made. This would open the door for the 3.3 turbo being discussed in another thread.
Interesting that Consumer Reports is now stating that turbo engines don't really get better gas mileage in real world use than NA power plants with equivalent HP and have higher maintenance and repair costs.
Of course, that's just Consumer Reports opinion based on surveys of actual users not a genuine Internet Meme.
From the tests I have seen the AWD V6 Hyundai does 0-60 in a hair over 7 and the Mercedes is 7.2 so pretty much the same I would say.
Multiple reputable publications have put the v6 at 6.4s 0-60. There is that one guy who does a rollout start with consumer level gear that gear 7.something.
Even on a purely logical level the v8 gen 1 2012+ did 5.0 according to Hyundai and others, some got it around 4.8. The 2012+ v6 was 5.5, 5.6 depending on source. The 2015 is a couple hundred lbs heavier and has less top end hp but more midrange torque. 6.4s makes sense in this regard. There's no way there's almost a 2 second deficit over the old model. Having owned both a 2012 v6 and a 2015 v6, the 2015 is slower but not that much slower.
Your deal at $48,300 was very good, but more like 13% off MSRP by my math.
By now, you mean two years ago? If you mean this article below from early 2013 it speaks to some specific smaller engines and does not appear to mention anything about "higher maintenance and repair costs". It also appears to be from their mileage testing, not users reporting.
Is there another more current article you are referring to or did I miss something?
