If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was just told that the 2015 5.0 Ultimate is discontinued by a salesman in Arizona (Scottsdale Chapman). I'm assuming this is BS based on how pushy the guy has been already, but has anyone heard anything?

Haven't heard anything. My guess is it's the salesman talking nonsense.

Great buying experience so far lol... Guess I'll be going elsewhere.

There are no 5.0 Ultimate's around here apparently, didn't think it'd be so hard to find one.

It's kinda surprising that such a prominent metropolitan area would have so few.

Fwiw my dealer told me 5.0's were hard to sell and considering they sold me one for about 19% off sticker without any incentives tends to make me believe him.

Your deal at $48,300 was very good, but more like 13% off MSRP by my math.

Heard the same thing. For at least the rest of the calendar year, including 2016 models at the start. The DAMN EPA!!! .Gov tyrants hassling Hyundai over a few the ths of fleet average MPG AND CO2 emissions!

Well the good thing if this is true, wouldn't that bring the value up on those of us who purchased one :D

I really hope they did discontinue it. My AWD 5.0 would become priceless with only a couple of hundred ever made. :D This would open the door for the 3.3 turbo being discussed in another thread.

I was at the Cleveland Auto Show on Saturday and they had two Gennys on display. One of them was the 5.0 Ultimate. If the 5.0 Ultimate had not been available when I bought mine, I would have bought a something different as in another brand and not Hyundai.

Now that you mention it, same here. If engine getup and go did not matter, I probably would have went Mercedes E250 4Matic Bluetec. If you are going to go smaller displacement, might as well rack up the miles on a single tank in style. The Mercedes has only 195 hp but massive torque (369 ft/lbs) and will scoot it along with similar acceleration to the V6 Genesis however you will get 45 mpg on the highway or about 900 miles/tank.

I posted this article before but here it is again for those who missed it. The Mercedes beat out the Prius Hybrid in MPG. http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...uel-efficient-car-in-america-is-a-luxury-car/

I suspect this is a wild rumor by uninformed sales people trying to sell what they got as well as a chance for DRS to bash the government again.

I doubt that....

From the tests I have seen the AWD V6 Hyundai does 0-60 in a hair over 7 and the Mercedes is 7.2 so pretty much the same I would say.

Interesting that Consumer Reports is now stating that turbo engines don't really get better gas mileage in real world use than NA power plants with equivalent HP and have higher maintenance and repair costs.

Of course, that's just Consumer Reports opinion based on surveys of actual users not a genuine Internet Meme.

By now, you mean two years ago? If you mean this article below from early 2013 it speaks to some specific smaller engines and does not appear to mention anything about "higher maintenance and repair costs". It also appears to be from their mileage testing, not users reporting.

Is there another more current article you are referring to or did I miss something?

Multiple reputable publications have put the v6 at 6.4s 0-60. There is that one guy who does a rollout start with consumer level gear that gear 7.something.

Even on a purely logical level the v8 gen 1 2012+ did 5.0 according to Hyundai and others, some got it around 4.8. The 2012+ v6 was 5.5, 5.6 depending on source. The 2015 is a couple hundred lbs heavier and has less top end hp but more midrange torque. 6.4s makes sense in this regard. There's no way there's almost a 2 second deficit over the old model. Having owned both a 2012 v6 and a 2015 v6, the 2015 is slower but not that much slower.

I agree that 6.4 is a fugure being thrown around quite a bit but throw in AWD into the equation and that number becomes more like 7. The Mercedes I am comparing this to also has AWD so you need to compare apples to apples. ;)

You're neglecting a further $2,500 taken off after tax was calculated, so right around $10k off sticker. $10k off without even asking for it is a sign of weak demand, at least in this locale, which is admittedly a small metro. Not saying to read into it too much just sharing my experience and the remarks of the dealer that 5.0's are slow movers, he said the 1G genesis was a much better seller for this dealer than 2G's due to higher price.

Someone eligible for incentives would have really knocked it out of the park!
