  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had my Genesis for little over a month now and I make it an effort to park next to BMWs and Mercedes when I get the chance. I've come to th conclusion that the Genesis family is a part of the BMW, Mercedes class. It cannot be denied

Here's my Genny next to a few "high end" cars

Only see the Bimmer. What colour is your car? Looks gold from the pic.
I like to park beside higher end cars as well so I know I won't get my doors dinged in the parking lots.

Here's the Benz. Somehow it didn't upload with the original message

Why? Seems a bit petty. I park next to whatever vehicle happens to be near the spot I want without thinking about where the "privileged" spot is.

For reference, I owned a 2007 BMW 530i and the cars are quite different. The BMW was significantly sportier in character, tighter steering, less body roll, more composed, significantly rougher ride. My Genesis with the 4.6 is larger, the interior has noticeably more room than the E60 5 series even in the front, the ride is significantly more comfortable, the interior is quieter, its faster as well but having driven them back to back, the I6 in the BMW is surprisingly quick given the weight of the car and its power rating. I'm almost certain it was underrated from the factory. My ideal setup would be the Genesis with an aftermarket suspension setup that rides similar to the BMW with a bit less harshness.

Are you shooting these with filters? The photos look ridiculously over processed.

It's a bit amusing to see the Bentley parked at a Walmart! Not that I have any issue with shopping there but it's stereotypically a blue collar shop.

Trust me...for most bimmer's enthusiast - it always will be - "it's a effin' Hyundai" :D

I've been on both sites :D

As a former E60 owner and someone who spends unreasonable amounts of time on car forums, I can say that BMW owners tend to be the most elitist of the bunch which is funny given how unreliable the cars are.

BMW always underrates their cars. Porsche too.

*cringes* at the site of the Bentley, or the Genesis for that matter, not parked on an "end" parking spot where there's no car on one side.

Two of my best buddies own Audi S5s, and I showed up at an Audi meet one time. It was enlightening hearing how much many of them dissed on BMWs :-).

Yeah, it likely applies to everyone. When I had my Genesis Coupe there was a whole Genesis Coupe vs FRS/BRZ undertone to a lot of discussions on both sides of the fence. I like certain cars from just about every make and I also understand that no single manufacturer makes the best cars in every segment.

Between myself and my wife I've owned/driven:

1995 Nissan 300ZX
2002 Hyundai Accent (first car, learned to drive manual on it in high school)
2002 Honda Accord
2003 Infiniti G35
2006 Nissan Maxima
2007 BMW 530i
2009 Ford Fusion
2010 Hyundai Genesis Sedan
2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

I've owned four of the cars on that list (albeit of different years/generations):
2003 Honda Accord
1997 Nissan Maxima
2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid
(2010/12/15) Genesis

I love parking next to more expensive cars, just to see the owners check out my car beside theirs. Then I get the satisfaction of knowing I paid half what they did :). Some folks are just brand whores and purchase those vehicles because of that very reason. Not me ill pay half an get very similar specs and smile all the way to the bank.

I hear that! I never park in just any old spot. I can't believe the Bentley owner did. Then again we could assume the Bentley owner will just buy a new one if he comes out to a ding. :p
