- Genesis G80
My Genesis is a great car but it's NOT up to compete against it's German rivals. Not that it's a bad car, it's just a first attempt at luxury by Hyundai so it's obviously not going to be as good as models the Germans have been perfecting for 20 years.
- Our wood trim is actually plastic
- Our clock has light blue Casio watch back-lighting. The kind of watch your math teacher wore...
- Our steering wheel is hideous and has the same circumference as a pickup truck steering wheel
- Plastic around the shifter is poor quality and is easily scratched
These are just a few things that came off the top of my head. Not that the big 3 Germans don't have a few poor components of their own, but ours are pretty glaring. Every review written on the Genesis says this same thing too.
What really let me know this car wouldn't quite be up to the refinement levels the Germans, or even Japanese are on yet is the fact that Hyundai doesn't have a factory race team. Sounds weird, but that's how manufacturers can really perfect the way their cars perform.
This makes a lot of sense.
But let me ask you something: Do you refer to the high end of the Germans lineup or the "family" as a whole.
For instance would this hold true to Mercedes C, E and S series or just S?
