  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What have you Raced?

I see what you're saying. Maybe an adjustable suspension is needed as a new option for V8 models...

I'll likely end up getting coilovers at some point. A set of quality coilovers and sway bars will work wonders. The RSPEC suspension is great and a member on Youtube had little trouble having a good time on a track but its still a bit soft. To be fair, I understand this is exactly what most people want but I'm used to lowered cars with rough suspensions.

This guy knows how to have a good time:

Definitely make it what you want. It's yours. But as mentioned - the Genesis is a luxury sport sedan mainly focused on luxury...

Oh, yes - no comparison at all, really. I'm only replying because I'm very familiar with the 335i and there's just no chance a 3.8 liter V6 Genesis is going to beat one in a race. They're entirely different cars...

It sounds like a lot of people prefer the V6 over the V8 when it comes to the Genesis. Apparently it IS a better fit for the rest of the car. But for the performance enthusiast, it seems like an excellent choice...

Maybe it was a 330.... I'll check out my dash cam footage later to confirm :-)

A recent long round trip from Eastern NC to Baltimore and back on this car puts a wide grin on my face.
It was my longest trip since the 1.5 year of ownership.
This car is such a great cruiser at high speed 80+ or faster.
At one stretch long distance that lasts about 80 miles or so on I-95.
I was able to hung tight with some big boy, a late model year S-550 (in black color) at speed well beyond you know what.
I was intentionally right behind his rear most of the time. Mind you speed radar detector is illegal in VA (mine was unplugged as soon as I crossed the VA state line) however, the weather was in our favor, cloudy, cool mist or light rain so most cops would rather spend their time around coffee shops or something.
Let me set this straight: there was no racing. He went fast, I went fast, he slowed down I slowed down as I was behind him most of the time.
My intention was more or less testing out the genesis's own road performances in which it has passed the tests!
When we were finally separated he might have wondered what kind of car that was?

Most of my races happen on freeway onramps, it is a great time to see how other cars perform and your not going to get into trouble with a quick acceleration to 80 MPH or so. Today I had the chance to totally embarrass a Lexus ES350, he got on the gas hard when the light changed so I thought that the fun was starting, but then I looked over and my wife gave me "THAT" look, oh well Mr. Lexus I decline your offer today, but you just wait till I'm alone:D

Hahaha I know "that look" very well. I had a G35 try my 2012 early morning on a straight road and I started to get on it, and I could *feel* the look; I didn't even have to look over.

I get "that look" all the time :D

It's too bad that your S.O. knows the dark side of yours.
Mine ain't.
I drive like a granny with her all the time.
Back to topic.
Learning from the most recent trip.
I now realize that Black colored cars are still the fastest. :D
A different kind of black car though. :(

We could probably start a new topic solely about "the look". I know exactly what you guys are talking about. Then again, my wife likes to take a good blast in the car every so often as well. So she really shouldn't complain. But she does anyway. :o

The reason you guys aren't seeing a big difference between the 4.6 and the 5.0 R spec is because your cars are stock. The first things that have to done to a R spec is a TIRE UPGRADE,INCREASE EXHAUST AND INTAKE AIR FLOW! You can accelerate to the cars potential if the ESC is pulling power like a 100 degree humid summer day. Leave the car in auto. not manual. The exhaust is so restrictive you might as well cap off the tailpipes. The pipe size and design are good but the secondary cats and rear mufflers must be replaced. The center resonator is a straight thru H-pipe design that flows well and eliminates some drone/ raspy sounds. The stock airbox is a good design and can be utilized once the resonators and filter are replaced. Once the R spec can get traction and breathe the only thing any 4.6 or 3.8 (sedan or coupe) will ever see is your taillights getting smaller from a roll or a dig. I pulled a manual 3.8 coupe so hard from a 20mph roll I thought he let out and hit the brakes. A stock Rspec sedan with traction and driven correctly should be capable of high 12 sec range.

This is very true, I added the intake from R2C performance and changed the mufflers to magnaflow rounds, what a difference!

What size tires would you recommend?

I am thinking of getting secondary cat deletes next.

What shops make the secondary cat deletes? Is it just MSA? can an exhaust shop make them or is it better to buy them made and just have the shop swap them out?

wins!!!

alright guys, i just wanna see what cars have everyone raced and won.

Re: wins!!!

G35, I didn't even notice he wanted to race until after the green light but still smoked him.

Another memorable moment to add to the scrap book…

Here I was minding my own business on a single lane sticking to the speed limit in an attempt to deny those Ka/Laser shooters the ability to balance their end of the month budgets, when I saw nice white Panamera coming down fast behind me and sticking up my posterior to the point I could no longer see those pretty LED headlamps!. Not fazed by this aggressive move, I continued at the posted speed limit until we came to a two lane stoplight leading down to a highway ramp.

He rev’ed his engine, when I looked to my left he shot me a look of utter contempt, glancing at his wheels, ride height and the absence of certain trimmings assured me of the absence of any boost that a turbo/GTS may provide! So I thought what the hell!? Momentarily flicked the gear stick to manual, down and back to auto…

Green! we both floored it, half way through ramp I am leading about a car length, triple digits by the end of the long ramp with the gab widening to two cars lengths, few thousand feet the gap widened to three cars, two high beam signals from those bright LEDs indicated we are all done, let my foot off the gas until engaging the cruise control at the appropriate speed all the while he maintained the three car lengths, at which point he indicated and got right beside me, with a look of surprise, no it was more like ‘flabbergasted!" which was quickly replaced by a wide smile accompanied by the customary thumps up! Speeding up shortly after with the Panamera S insignia shimmering in the sunset…

I thought to myself what a wonderful end to a long day…After all picking a worthy opponent makes that victory so much sweeter… :)

Nice kill! Mexico or the Autobahn? :)
