I picked off a new Dodge Challenger that still had paper plates a couple days ago. We were getting on the freeway, it was a long on-ramp that had two lanes merging into one with no other traffic. This guy was behind me at the light but as soon as the light went green he went into the right lane and got on it, well two can play that game. My little 3.8 pulled on him instantly, no contest at all, man that thing was a pig. I believe it was a V-6 car as it was so incredibly slow, all it did was make a bunch of noise as if something was supposed to be happening. The phrase all bark and no bite comes to mind. I bet he went straight back to the dealership to upgrade to a R/T.

After work my friend and I lined 'em up on a long stretch of feeder road.
We waited untill any and all traffic cleared the road so it was fairly safe.
my only mod is a pair of Dyno Max VT's. He says his SRT/8 Challenger is bone stock but it don't sound like it. The cars where almost evenly matched.
He got the jump on me on the start but I slowly reeled him in but backed off towards the end as the speeds where aproaching 130 mph.

This morning on the way to work at a stoplight I had some older POS to the right of me and then a punk kid in a mid 2000's 335i pulled up next to me on the left. I could just tell he was thinking "I'll get around these two slow cars and turn at the next intersection".

Not so fast junior. As soon as the light changed to green we both hit the gas. Even till maybe 20mph and he had a shocked look on his face then I just pulled right away. There wasn't any traffic, pedestrians or intersections nearby so I pushed it up to 85 and figured I made my point with him now several car lengths behind me. I tapped the brakes, slowed back down and he did the usual rookie flyby after the race was done. I guess to save a little of his dignity. I looked over at him before I pulled away and he had a look of shock on his face. Sorry Mr. BMW. Today was not your day.

Also yesterday on the way home from work there was a huge break in traffic where I had 7 lanes to myself for at least a mile so I pushed it just to get a little adrenaline going then slowed back down. Not 2 minutes later I have my cruise control on 70 in a 65 and a women in a new Infinity Q50 with dealer paper plates comes FLYING up the freeway through traffic. She had to be doing at least 130mph. No joke. In heavy traffic no less. She started flooring it, slamming her brakes, weaving in and out of traffic and just driving like a lunatic. I'll freely admit I speed, but there is a right and wrong way and she was being very dangerous.

Anyway..... wouldn't you guess who I pull up behind at the traffic light at the end of the exit ramp. Little Miss Infinity. I wasn't 100% sure it was the same person but when the light changed green and she floored it I quickly found out. She squeeled her tires around the corner and after I turned I punched it and stayed on her bumper up to around 70mph. If we were not approaching another area with heavy traffic I probably could have passed her but I backed off and let her be the idiot.

Exactly. Plus back in the day I wasn't driving vehicles that handled well. I actually think some of the crazy and I mean CRAZY stuff I did from age 17-25 has probably made me a better driver in some ways. I never drive distracted and I know how to handle a vehicle.

My first car was a 1985 2 door (very rare) crown victoria. I was driving this in the year 2000-2001ish. I used to attempt to race my best friends 93 T-Bird SC and we had some good times but man, I put that vic through it's paces driving well over 100mph at times and taking it through turns like I was racing an indy car, tires squealing, rear end kicking out. It was kinda like that beastie boys video "sabatoge" LOL. Parking lot donunts, tranny slams, reverse j-turns. Stuff I would never do to my Genesis now. But it does teach you how to react when your car skids out of control and corrections to make.

Later on that same best friend had a 95 Z28 and we pegged the speedometer one night on a 2 lane road in the country with no traffic. At about 155mph we were in the center of the road and the wind was forcing the car left to right back and forth. One of the scariest moments I've had in a car, large trees on both sides of us. Man was that ever dumb. I think we probably hit 160mph before he backed off and hit the brakes. It was fun and exciting but scary all at once.

Ahh to be young and dumb and invincible.

Just saying... A BMW 335i does 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. It's a pretty fast car. If I'm not mistaken, the 3.8 liter Genesis Sedan does it in 6.0 or so... I'm not quite sure how you got several car lengths ahead of him. I have to imagine it was a 328i you were racing. Otherwise, that kid must have had a really weak foot.

Good for you for not playing with that stupid Infiniti. She's seriously looking for trouble...

You would be surprise how many of those older bimmers (especially 3-series) are heavily modified with an engine swaps, big turbos, etc.

As for the lady driving Infinity - she probably took it for a test drive

Sounds like it was an E46 and most likely a 330i.

The 335i was introduced in 2006, if I'm not mistaken. That's a solid twin turbo V6 and it moves. It also costs about $400 to add 80hp and torque and be in the 12s. But that's another story...

335's are quick and with an ecu tune they are monsters. Tuned 335's were walking E92 M3's when I was looking into them. It's a much smaller car than the Genesis though so its hard to even compare. Even my E60 5 series had a tighter interior than my Genesis. The V8 in the Genesis Sedans is a funny powerplant because it feels like Hyundai put the wrong engine in the car. Not because its bad in any way but it has a decidedly rev happy and sporting character while the rest of the car (and the transmission) is telling you it wants to roll in a relaxed manner. With the exhaust mods in place I love putting the Tau up in the rev range. It makes a glorious sound and doesn't seem to complain.

It sounds like a lot of people prefer the V6 over the V8 when it comes to the Genesis. Apparently it IS a better fit for the rest of the car. But for the performance enthusiast, it seems like an excellent choice...

I see what you're saying. Maybe an adjustable suspension is needed as a new option for V8 models...
