  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all,

I've recently experienced Bluetooth disconnection on phone calls and freezing/glitching on SiriusXM on my Genesis 5.0 Ultimate.

The Bluetooth issue is that in the middle of calls through the vehicle, the Bluetooth call drops on the entertainment system without any error, while the call continues on my actual phone. I'm using a Google Nexus 5 with Android 5.1 and the issue on recently started manifesting itself. The only resolution I have is to end the call on my phone and restart the call.

Another issue I've encountered is that my SiriusXM will not play channel 2 "Hits" when browsing through my presets and I actually have to pass that specific channel, then browse back to it for channel 2 to play. In addition to this, I had one experience where my entertainment system was stuck on 1 channel's audio, even when changing channels. For example, my audio was constantly playing channel 51, even when I scrolled through SiriusXM channels and their data appeared on the display. The only step I could take to resolve the issue was to turn my car off for about a minute, then start it up again.

Now the most frustrating part is that I recently took my Genesis in for the taillight recall and 7500 mile service. I mentioned these issues and the dealership was unable to recreate the issue, thus they did not take any action.

From my research, there is an update for the 5.0 Ultimate entertainment system that the dealership can apply. I asked regarding this and they stated there was not.

Does anyone have a TSB or reference number for the radio update? Also, any estimate on how much time it would take as the dealership stated it would be an overnight task, which I find hard to believe.

Thanks for the help!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
When did you take delivery of your car? I took delivery of mine on 2/24, and the entertainment update had already been done, so it's possible that's the case for you as well.

I took delivery on 11/15/2014 and its build date I believe was in August 2014.

I've noticed just in the past 2 or 3 days that the S/XM programming will drop out on my 5.0 ultimate. There doesn't appear to be any pattern or station selection that is a precursor to the problem. When this happens the "i" icon on the S/XM display(information I suppose) shows either the word "bad" or "weak signal". The audio will eventually resume, equally inexplicably.

ShahMoneyXL. does this sound anything like you are experiencing?

I've had similiar issues, but I fault those to signal obstructions like trucks, buildings and trees.

I was able to resolve the Bluetooth issue by completing a factory reset on my phone. Now my phone is much zippier and Bluetooth works without issue.

However, back to my original request, does anyobe know the TSB number or reference number for the Ultimate 5.0 entertainment software upgrade?

This is caused by obstructions (trees, buildings etc) between the car and the satellite. This is common with satellite radio.

The bluetooth will start to malfunction again. I just went through that same experience, typical Hyundai electronics it seems :/

I'm glad I'm not big on using bluetooth in my vehicle. What a shame that this is such a problem on a 2015 luxury car.
