  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Top speed R-Spec Genesis

I took mine to about 155 mph and I back it down. It definitely had much more it was pulling hard. I think the elec. governor is 159mph. Ill get back to you in the spring.

I'm pretty sure they're locked at 155mph.

Good find!! I cant imagine taking that car to that speed on the stock tires/ suspension.

On a certain 2012 I may know of 😉, there is not a lock out past 155... Reported Steady as a rock over a buck sixty four, coasted back this ghost was coming up on traffic. Reports of a witness inside with ghost rider that did this. Was in sixth and still pressing ghost into the seat. 🙀

If you get a chance, use GPS for more accurate readings, speedo might be off up to 10%. I've seen that happened on E39 540i

Good point. Except the ghost took a Garmin and also used in dash GPS. GPS read 2 mph slow. Ghost report was using GPS # for the report.

Ghost says, wants to match a private report from another of one dollar seventy eight. Some day..

Well a certain ghost rider needs to post a video and proof of this so called run. Then the ghost rider needs to stop holding back and give the source of such tuner that enabled the vehicle in question to evade the factory installed governor since we have not one shop to currently accomplish this.

I have hit the 159 cap with more in it. I feel that the R spec with the proper tires, suspension tuning and 50 more hp could possibly hit close to the 200 mph mark. I have this confidence because it just pulls so hard. I have driven many of cars and the R spec has a serious pull up top especially after 150 mph.

What year is your R-Spec?

I guess like the 2015 V6 Genesis that has a new lower limiter being imposed, you must have one... The link article and the ghost verified more than your 159 limit... And yes, still accelerating hard which you observed before your cutoff.. Reported in 6th.

Hi all,

Is there a way to get the GPS in the R-Spec to show speed?

Thanks,

Bill

The article referenced only was theoretical top speed. Not actual recorded. The Genesis has a limiter. It will cut the fuel at the limit. No amount of wishing and hoping hyundai made a mistake or somehow didn't install the limit will make it go away. The limit is there.

Yes.... The systems settings there is a GPS info. Shows Global position, altitude/elevation, and speed... Works great. And works when car is moving. I could not tell which turn and clicks on the shuttle jog.. You will find it. Ghost used it to gauge GPS speed verses indicated.

Maybe... Maybe not... If you have a 2012 any variant with a 5.0, try it... Actual report GPS 162, speedo looked to be about 164.. No sputtering or rev limit at the point, still pushing in back of seat. At that point lifted to slow pace before coming up on oncoming traffic.
