  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any suggestions ? I have to drive 3 hours for this car and I want to make sure that I am not making a major mistake. Is there a way to check the oil leak ?

Hello Freinds,

currently I am trying to finalize a 2012 Rspec CPO with 13000 miles on it for $26000 without tag/tax and dealer fees.
It is a January 2012 manufacture date so I am in a dilema to pull the trigger or not as it may or may not have the oil leak issue, if it does I will have to end up re-building the engine.
I like the price and low miles on the car but very confused about the possible oil leak issue.
Your valuable suggestions/advice ?

You are possible within the window.. Happened starting in Aug 2011.. Reports say ending in January or Feb of 2012. Others at Hyundai have said December 2011.

If it is CPO, I would not be afraid.... Warranty should cover any issue. Plus good public track record of Hyundai being proactive and replacing motors due to the oil consumption in motors produced in this time..What service history do they show? If the owner used synthetic, you might not see oil use yet with this low if mileage.

The issue is not with oil leaking, but reported the German (provided at that time) piston rings were defective design. Initially used to enhance mileage through low friction, the design had a flaw. The rest of 2012s and any 5.0 beyond this has not had consumption issues.. Hyundai is not the only car company with issues.. Reports of VW, BMW and Mercedes having major oil consumption issues from the same part supplier. And reports have come back (here and other places), the Euopeans have not been generally suortive of doing anything about it.. Reports of Audi, VW consuming oil at 5-800 miles a quart, nothing will be done, has been reported. Same for BMW consuming quart of oil at 800-1.5k, and them not standing by customer to repair or replace. Other reports have had new European motors installed (lemon law states?).

Hope this helps.. You still may travel there and find out the rest of the car was romped on for all its low mileage. Showing up in other areas...

You are welcome.. I am sure if others have different opinion, they will jump in. All good.

I bought my 2012 5.0 non r-spec a few months back with 28k miles for 24,500. With an 48/48k extended warranty and after TTL. I also got full trade value (nada clean trade) on the 2011 Lexus is250 I traded in. My father is a sales manager at a multi-brand dealership (Hyundai and GMC on the same lot) so the dealership actually made only ~$200 on the sale.I feel like a very lucky man and I love my car the same as day one.

Also my father is good friends with the finance director and he called in a personal favor to SunTrust bank. My credit score was a 680 at the time. I got 2.9% apr on a 72 month note. I did put in total $7,000 down so I think that helped out.

👆 good work... Nice to have connections once in awhile. Lot of car for the money..

That genesis was gone next day. And I have finalized a 2011 equus CPO 37k miles for $32k out the door. Planning to get an ext warranty, is it same as genesis or it's a different league ? I am well informed about genesis hpp warranty but no clue about equus, can anyone help?

Dealer quoting 1850 for CPO wrap by fidelity and 3400 for HPP

Congratulations, enjoy the ride.

Thanks, I love the car. It's a lot of fun and a huge upgrade from the is250. What a slow car that was lol.

Picked up my Genny last week. 2009 4.6 88k for $12,900. It was a one owner car with the break recall already done. Thanks to to this site for making the research for this purchase so easy:-)

How many miles? What year? What price?

Thanks

What is the MSRP on that Genesis?
Thanks

I read through this thread before pulling the trigger on my R-spec yesterday, so I thought I'd pay it back by posting my info.

I just got a brand-new 2014 R-spec with under 50 miles on the odo. They threw in locking lug nuts into the deal. I got it for $37.5K plus tax. Maybe not the very best price, but it worked for me. What really sweetened the pot was 60-month financing at 2.39%. My local credit union was offering me 2.49%, but the dealer really, really wanted me to take it home that day. I had a trade-in, a 2007 Camry XLE, and fortunately I brought its title and all the keys with me just in case the dealer was willing to finance the Genny on the spot. No cash paid at all, just the trade-in and a bunch of signed papers. :p
