  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone here compared the 15 Genesis 5.0 to a Chevy SS?

The CTS is noticeably smaller than the Genesis and SS.

It depends what you are after, the SS is really a lightweight in its group at 3899lbs (tested without spare and with more than half a tank of gas), its a full sized sedan that is larger than a BMW M5 and CTS. You would be hard pressed to find a better handing large sedan. The Genesis on the other hand is going after the luxury market and you would be hard pressed to find a more luxurious sedan in the same price range.

The CTS is smaller, but it is absolutely worth checking out. I was considering all three at one point and ended up narrowing it down between the CTS V-Sport and the Genesis. The V-Sport performs the same, if not better, than the SS and is a lot more luxurious and refined which is where my tastes fall.

👆👍➕1⃣. Totally agree.. SS is cool, rare, fast, light on feet. Way cool factor with manual in big sedan. But 8speed out of Corvette, is amazing. My choice. Sleeper.. So many low cost sleeper mods for the V8, goes beyond counting. Get one while stil available.

Agreed. :)

That car is way more money too. No thanks!

Wasn't sure what your budget was!

I agree with what they're saying about the SS though. Go look up Pontiac G8 GXP prices. The SS might be a vehicle you should plan to keep because they could easily appreciate in the near future.

It will be about 4 months before I get either of the cars. So if the SS is available, it may happen. If not, then I will probably go with the Genesis and thats only if I decide to go the SS first. :)

Good point on high resale prices.. Remember the 96 Impala SS? For a time, some went more than paid when canceled. Held better than average value for long time. To a certain degree, the Marauder still holds higher resale., does not surprise me the GXP prices are high.

This review by a young guy that looks like he will pee his pants every time he stomps on the accelerator:

Quite possible, close to a spiritual conversion to American muscle V8, for this metroman. Get off the soy milk, he might drop an octave in his voice.. Just teasing.. Maybe he will trade a WRX popper for one of these..

That kid actually owns a Ford Mustang GT (new body style) that his audience helped him get with donations....lol

To everyone else, thanks for the videos. I have actually probably watched every youtube video on the SS and genesis that is available. :P

I have to admit - those last two YouTube videos were really glowing reviews of the Chevrolet SS...

Most are. That is rare for a Chevy IMHO. :)

And that was before 2015 model which got brembo rear brakes, magnetic suspension and some other things which I forgot.

He ought to change his channel name and water mark in his videos. Currently seems to indicate a preference and fan appreciation for a WRX... "SubaruWRXfan" might give that impression.. But then, this would be a tin foil hat thing to say.. :)

i have a friend that bought the 2014 SS. He took it to the track for some base runs before he add the CTS-V blower onto it. It ran a 12.9 stock

Hes now shooting for a 10 second pass

Geez.. Bet he is in low 11s already on stock tires? And the "moving street sweet spot" I bet is torrential. Amazing... As mentioned earlier, that is cool about the SS. Supported add ins, and Large performance options.. More I think about this, time to move the 2012, order a 2016 SS? Unless .gov motors makes me sign a license agreement for their "IP" with all the data network and critical software in the car.. I bet his 2014 is free from that.. Off to a dealership in next few weeks. Almost sold on a SS.. And add some bolt on CPU upgrades, breathing and blower options.. Or factory Hellcat? Modified SS seems to have something special.. 😎
