  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Aye. 2009 4.6 with 92K and NO FUN to have a wife who is scared on the road due to a stall. Recurrent yesterday, 5 times coming to a stop. She hits the button and restarts quickly. Took it in to the dealer and said "as long as it takes. If you can't figure it out put an explosive device in the car". Rather do that than calm her down again.

Ideas valued and appreciated. Jesus.

If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy

if a car isn't reliable, fix it, or get rid of it. I wouldn't put up with a car that leaves me or anyone I care about stranded or puts them at risk of any kind.

It may be a blocked air filter, Jesus. Or, maybe emissions controls.

They saw carbon buildup on the throttle collar so they cleaned that. unable to duplicate the problem (why is it every time the shop cannot?) Letting them keep the car for one more day. They are setting it back to specs putting it on the dyne and watching for codes...

Agreed.

Got a call from the dealer. No repeat of the stall. I asked to drive it up and back a stop and go road in the morning. if it does not repeat we will pick it up. I will drive it for a week or so and put the bride back in if no stall after that time. at 92k she has been looking for a new vehicle and (had she followed suggestions she would have it picked out....however, you men know how it goes..)

Any further suggestions appreciated. Dealer thinks it was a carbon deposit. no codes. I did ask them to switch out the fuel filter just in case.

Didn't see this yet, but could it be water in the gas tank? Perhaps coming to a stop swishes the water towards the fuel pickup and causes a stall.

I suggest checking with others before adding a bottle of dry gas since I do not know if damage will occur to the Hyundai engines.

So we got the Genesis back. They checked fuel and air filter, transmission levels, cleaned the throttle collar and checked all vacuum tubing, air intake. It ran fine yesterday to the local market. What a dealer. Charged us $125.00 for all the tests, the dyno and any and all labor.

Poway Hyundai. Will let you know if the problem resurfaces. Hopefully not.

Thanks for your input !

I hope they sorted it out. Sounds like a reasonable amount for the tests.

My brother-in-law had his strand him twice in the middle of nowwhere texas. I don't know what i'd do i were him. I think after the second time, i'd get trade the car in. Probably for a different brand.

I hate when the dealers can't figure it out.
