  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New owner checking in...

Oil leak confirmed. Less than two weeks old and there is already a mechanical issue.

I'm trying to love this car, really, but so far I'm just cursed.

Yeah, you haven't had much luck. Did you purchase or is it a lease? I wonder if they'd swap it out if it's a lease?

Purchased.

Just heard back, differential was the culprit, it was overfilled at factory. Drained, gasket replaced, refilled and road tested. Getting it back in a few hours.

Not sure why the gasket needed to be replaced. These are splash lubricated and vented right?

They might have damaged the gasket during their inspection but most likely caused by over filling it which in turned caused your leak. Glad to hear it was a minor issue.

As mentioned, lie,lay the gasket changed on purpose.. They might likely decided to inspect the interior of the axle. Good for them. New gasket is best practice to change once opened.. Glad you got it solved.

Got it back and flogged it hard this weekend, no more drips. According to the invoice they only changed the fill plug gasket, not the main seal for the differential housing.

Guess they didn't need to open it after all. Only .5hrs claimed by the tech.

Awesome news. Thank You for the update!
