  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Show me your coolest wheels on your Genesis sedan

One would need to very, very cautious driving a Genesis lowered like that in pothole riddled and torn up streets in this area (northern Virginia, DC and MD suburbs). Even the interstates and US highways in this area are so pothole riddled and torn up that avoiding the holes and rough pavement means driving like one is in a slalom event.

Ground clearance is a non issue since the car is on air. Press a button and it raises.

Nice to see that I've sparked a conversation about modifications to our platform but lets keep that in the Owners Lounge portion of this forum. I always like to see what direction other members are going in with their car because the options are endless. Glad some of you like it and some of you hate it, if everyone liked it the world would be a boring place.

Anybody else have any custom wheels they want to post up??

Fair enough. We're all members of this great forum. Wasn't my intention to hijack the thread. As Ednchrishk says, back to pics.

Car looks great as usual. I love the wheels...need some great twilight pics where the lighting highlights. Take it to the lake or downtown or something! I'll post up pics when the new wheels arrive.

Going to take car out for a few shots this weekend. Look forward to seeing your new wheels on the car.

well, 24 posts and only xiaphin produced...thank you sir.....I thought there would have been more out there to see.....wasn't looking for crazy or absurd...just thought there were more rims out there than the oem wheels...there has to be something else out there to compliment these beautiful cars....so where are they?......

Not bad for my snowshoes.

SSR Professor MS1 test fit

See you went more aggressive with the rears on the SSR's compared to the JP's. What is the difference in offset between the two? I know you told me already but might be good info for the community since more and more people are getting wheels. Same tires or different?

Personal taste but I cannot stand when wheels/tires stick out past the fender.

I understand each person's personal taste. I think it looks hideous right now..it needs work to fit right, and may not even work. I'll see once I can get some shop time to focus on the fenders.

JP's are 20x10.5 +26 in the rear. SSR's are 20x11 +11 Normal Disk in the rear. I wanted Super Lo Disk, but I gambled and lost. 110mm lip as opposed to 131mm. Got these used, so beggars can't be choosers. lol.

Rear Fender Work

Have been told and seen first hand, due to the construction of the Genesis Rear fenders they are one of the hardest to pull and/or roll. They are two piece with a seam weld slightly below the hard edge. Can't have roll continue where the hard edge starts and when it is rolled a very sharp crease is created. With rolling you can't actually gain any clearance in the fender well due to the inner fender piece. If wanting to tuck anymore of the rim inside the fender it is pointless. To do a solid pull that can start at the hard crease line there are two options.

1. Unfold the outer from the inner, pull both out together then fold the outer back under inner.
2. Separate inner and outer by cutting inner away, rolling outer, then welding the inner back to the outer. (not recommended by my body shop guy for small pulls)

Either way both will require paint. Currently trying to figure out how crazy to get with my rear fenders while my car is in the shop after getting backed into.

Good to know, thanks. I'm not sure that I can get enough camber between maxing out and lowering to make them fit. -2.7 is the max adjustable, I think. That's pretty conservative, but that is all I would want anyway. Not interested in chewing through tires.
It's a matter of how much lowering it an inch will pull the tops in...

As long as your toe is in spec, you'll do OK. Camber will wear a bit quicker, but not ruin tires.

Clean 5-spoke is cleaaaaaaan.

here's mine
