  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2009 Genesis. A few days ago, a white vertical line appeared in the center of my odometer display. Then the white line turned to black (as if the pixels burnt out), and the odometer now shows "ERROR mi" instead of my actual or trip miles. Has anyone seen this before? I have a service appointment coming up, but am wondering if this can be fixed with a reset, or if it's a major repair. Thanks!

Hi Kris. Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I, for one, have never heard of this happening. I hope someone else will chime in if they have...

I see you signed up in June of 2010! Since this is your first post, 5 years later, I'll assume you've been having a good Genesis ownership experience until now. I hope so, anyway...

You can always try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about a minute and see if it clears it up.

All you can do is hope.

Curious, how many miles are on the car. Keep us posted.

Thanks to all for the feedback. The dealer could not find any error codes explaining what was happening, and could only suggest replacing the entire instrument cluster ($2500). Still hoping to uncover an easier fix.

Mileage is 117k. Minor correction to original post - trip miles display as normal.

You can probably get a used one at an online used parts site (basically a junk yard).

Okay, I'll look into that -- thanks for the tip!
