  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The car is priced so damn high I wouldn't be surprised if nobody bought one from this point on.

It was never meant as a volume seller so I'm not terribly surprised. It just brings attention to the brand and gets people talking about $60k KIA's and KIA in general in a positive light compared to a few years ago. They are great cars and I wouldn't hesitate in buying a used one in a couple of years.

Exactly, and same is true for Equus.

Days of inventory is misleading anyway, since it not only reflects sales volumes, but also inventory levels, which may be higher (or lower) than normal for imported cars (for various reasons).

I love the Kia K900 but not the price. Topping out at over $70k is ridiculous. The Equus and Genesis are DEFINITELY bringing people into Hyundai showrooms but I don't know how the Kia K900 is doing that when nobody ever sees one.

Used 2015 K900's are going for $40K. There is your value proposition right there...
Well, Lebron likes it. When he had an occasion to drive a K900 as part of Kia's NBA sponsorship, he liked it so much that he specifically asked Kia for free K900, and his endorsement deal followed after that.

As mentioned, it really is a great car. But it would be nice to see more than ONE per YEAR on the road. And for $40k, I sure would take it over any Genesis. The K900 has a little advantage of the Equus in my opinion. However, it's about a generation newer than the Equus so that's to be expected. I imagine our second generation Equus will be a step above the K900.

Don't think it's priced too high as much as being an old school, Korean luxo-barge w/o available AWD.

The K900 has sold 710 YTD which makes it on pace to sell around 1,400 for the year, which isn't bad since 2k was the minimum target set for the Equus by Hyundai.

And unlike the Equus, the K900 did not have a lower, mid-level sedan (like the Genesis) to set the table so to speak and Kia dealerships have not gone thru the amount of gentrification like Hyundai dealerships have done.

Also, Kia was supposed to launch a lower-priced V6 version of the K900 (kinda the pseudo substitute for not having a Genesis level sedan), but it seems like they may be waiting until the TTV6 is ready (so likely not until the next gen model).

The next gen K900 with a more modern ride/handling, better sheetmetal, a more luxurious interior, a 6 cylinder variant and most importantly, AWD, should at least double sales.

What will also help is the launch of the production version of the GT concept (Kia's version of the Genesis, albeit a bit smaller and sportier) - which should help raise awareness/drive more foot-traffic to Kia dealerships for lux sales.

K900 and Equus sales together are on pace to sell 3.738 for the year - which is a little off the top sales year for the Equus which sold nearly 4k in 2012 (the K900 probably has taken some sales away from the Equus, as has the 2G Genesis - along with the general move away from large sedans to mid-large CUVs, which is why Hyundai should have been working on a Genesis-based CUV already).

The A8 is on track to sell 5k for the year.

The XJ is on track for 3,712 (right with the Equus/K900); in all likelihood, the F-Pace Jag CUV will be Jag's best selling non-entry level model.

The RLX is on track to sell 2,400 for the year (at lower pricepoint than the Equus/K900).

And all of these have AWD.

What state is buying all the K900? 710, huh? I've seen ONE so far...

Yes, I think all wheel drive and a V6 will make a big difference in sales. I also think something slotting in between the Cadenza and K900 would help. The K900 was a pretty big jump. Though I shouldn't forget that the Cadenza can be pretty expensive when loaded as well. More so than the Sonata if I'm not mistaken...

If you go to Carmax website and look nationally they have a pile of used K900 available. Not bad prices. Not sure where all of the very low miles cars came from though.

I could not find K900 in the Kia dropdown at Carmax.com...

As a result of NBA sponsorship, I believe that they had a lot of cars built for use by the NBA. I believe that is how Lebron first drove one, and liked it so much that he approached Kia about a sponsorship.

Or maybe it was a pro golf event sponsored by Kia (all the players get a free car from one of the manufacturers to drive during every golf tournament, and then they sell them when the tournament ends).

I asked for a good price on the Cruze diesel for company. None but uber loaded models pushing over $30k.. For a Cruze? Their "best discount" was high 27k. Insane. No wonder... As for the K900, the Morphesus commercials really set it back three years.

Hey, I kinda liked those Morpheus commercials! But - I guess it might have made a good portion of people take the car less seriously...

We checked out a K900 at an auto show and it was a looker for sure. Inside and out, this is an awesome car, but with a $64k sticker price (in 2014) it was $14k more than my 2015 5.0 Genesis Ultimate which more than makes my right foot happy & fat azz happy on a daily basis... :D

The production version of the GT is coming (about a yr away).

Would help set the table for Kia's luxury offerings, much like what the Genesis sedan has done (and bit smaller and sportier than the Genesis w/ the top powerplant being the TTV6).

Interesting looking car. ENTIRELY different from the Genesis and I don't think the same demographic will be interested...

Yeh. Can you try posting smaller pictures? This software isn't resizing the way it's supposed to...
