  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Problem with Door Locks?

I have one of those unfortunate intermittent/inconsistent problems with my door locks and was wondering if anyone else has had the same issue. We are supposed to be able to lock and unlock the doors with the key fob in our pocket by just depressing the button on the door handle. I find that on occasion my doors will not lock or unlock if I try it that way. I have to take the key fob out and press the lock or unlock button. Since it is intermittent, it is difficult to take it to the dealer to have him discover what the problem is. I have switched off between the 2 key fobs to see if it was a problem with one of them, but it happens with both. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Do you still have it? Have you found a cure? I have had the car for only 4 months, so it shouldn't be the age of the battery.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
When this issue happens, do you have your cell phone in the same pocket? I have noticed interference when a cell phone is in close proximity of the fob, on the Hyundai cars. No such issue on nissan cars.

Pls check that out and let us know

Thanks

Yes, I do. Is that what is causing it? I noticed that when I take the fob out of my pocket and just hold it in my hand, pressing the button on the handle then works. Is there a fix for that?

Put your FOB in a different pocket than your phone.

Ha ha! Very funny. Unfortunately i have only one hand I can use so everything has to go in the same pocket.

Keep them as separate as possible. That is the only fix, unfortunately, that I am aware of at this time. Not sure if someone on this forum has a suggestion for better shielding diy for the fob.

I buy shorts and jeans that have watch pockets and keep my fob in the watch pocket with my cell phone in the main pocket. I have had no issues since doing this but had the same issues you have experienced before carrying my fob in my watch pockets.

VF Factory Outlet stores carry's Wrangler Cargo Shorts that has a zipper for the watch pocket that are comfortable and comes in various colors. Better than that, they are only about $15 :D

I use a smart card I purchased online and keep it in my billfold. Don't know where or if you carry a billfold but just a thought.

Yes same problem...Took to dealer and they said that underneath the dash are some wires that came loose so they literally secured them with some ties similar to ones used on plastic Garbage bags....has been fine...A quick repair...
